I rolled back into town this afternoon to find that some turkey had left something to be thankful for in my mailbox. So, I’m sitting down for my first smoke of Robert McConnell’s Latakia Flake in a meer-lined Kiko 1 to begin to answer the question of whether this is a suitable, stateside replacement for Revor Plug. I’m going to reserve any opinions on that until after I get to know the blend a little better. I will say, however, that the tin note is smokier and less tangy than that of Revor, but not completely foreign to it. I’ll also say that I’m even more convinced that there is absolutely no latakia in Revor. All other information is withheld until after further testing.
