Hmmmm . . . your comment for me is reflective. I have two significant gems in my past that cause regrets that I never married. I wanted to do what I want, when I wanted, and how I wanted, and so I did. And they exited, stage right.
And have had a grand life. However, once in a while, those memories still surface. I think your post has eliminated the regrets. Thank you.
Gord ... your deep introspection, reflections (etc, etc, etc) are always fascinating to me. This is one of the great values of this forum is how one can "touch" another w/o knowing, unless a direct reply is offered.
"... significant gems in my past that cause regrets that I never married."
OH YEAH (!!!). Early 80's, a real "significant gem", with a short reconnection in '94, that I let slip through my fingers. She passed in '08. I've sat at her grave several times in deep reflection.
And now, just last week, I (bizarrely, surreal) met someone (who shockingly looks like her reincarnation) at the Grocery Store. Ahead will be a possible "Meet for coffee" or "Meet for a meal".
We'll see what "the Moon & the Stars" have in mind ... (?) ... while Father Time sits there smirking over everything.
Boy, would I like to take a baseball bat to that Ahole (!!!).

Half way through this bowl of KBV Jupiter Slice 7.1 in a post-1938 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 bulldog with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Nigel Bruce smoked this model in two Sherlock Holmes movies. Please consider asking Shane Ireland at Smoking Pipes and Peterson to bring the pipe back into production. Did some bowl scraping on estate pipes to get the carbon out, and fed Tomato the Brave and Harry the Hairy, who is inside now that Tomato's out. Watching the Dodgers-Tigers game, 3-3 in the 10th with Sleepy Suzy by my side. Molly Danger went back to the bedroom. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Follow with me. We had three different bowls of Seattle pipe club plum pudding bourbon barrel aged, a bowl of MM country gentleman, a bowl of MM Great Dane, a bowl of C&D Granby Station, a bowl of C&D Cigar Leaf, and I can’t remember what else, in an Eagle claw meerschaum; a pirate meerschaum; the Erik Karl burly slightly bent brandy; and the Boswell 12 gauge billiard extra large military mount tortoiseshell stem.

I know I had at least three bowls in that eagle claw meerschaum, but other than that, I can’t remember exactly what tobacco I had in what pipe, because I was so wired up about Tennessee’s game against Kentucky tonight. At least no one can say I was trying to pump up my post amount by making multiple posts today.IMG_0464.jpeg

Maiden smoke with my new (to me) Peterson Short 264 (shout out to @BenMN for match making) loaded with C&D HBS and paired with an old favorite of mine, Warsteiner Oktoberfest.

Nice combo!

I almost bought another Peterson this week, my first System. @Sandblast has been a strong advocate for the System, but the one I was dithering on got scooped. Ah well, there's always another

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am not far from finishing this bowl of an upcoming in the near future Watch City Blend in a 2002 IMP smooth full bend egg shaped meer with a black acrylic saddle stem. Watching the Braves-Padres game as I review this blend. Just fed Daisy the Feral Princess, who got in the way of my typing because she decided to sit on my lap, and get her head and back scratched. Earlier, I brought Molly Danger to the den, and she got a lot of attention, too. She was giving Daisy the evil eye when Daisy was on my lap, and Molly was looking at me with one of those quizzical "Why are you paying attention to that fat tuxedo cat?" looks.

Did a little low calorie snacking, and have passed the first quarter of this bowl of year 2022 Solani 633 in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Straight Grain Made in England bulldog with a diamond shape shank and black ebonite stem. This pipe came from the estate of David Cuneo.

Molly is a beautiful girl.
She sure is. She was about three or four weeks old when we rescued her and Sleepy Suzy, who is about seven weeks old. One day, m'lady got a call from a woman who had two kittens that were going to be put down in the morning, and asked "...and did we want to see them?" We got in the car and drove to her house. M'lady was sitting on the floor while we were chatting with the woman when Suzy (that wasn't her name at the time) walked over her, got on her lap, and started purring as she went to sleep. M'lady said, "We are taking her home." I said, "We're not taking one and leaving the other." That was how we got them. I named Molly after Molly McGee from "Fibber McGee and Molly." M'lady named Suzy "Suzette", and I shortened it to "Suzy".

The first three photos are Molly the week we got her.

This is Suzy around the same time, maybe a week later than the Molly photos.

And this is Suzy when she was about six months old.

Thank you! Sorry to hear about the one that got away. Hopefully another you like turns up soon.

Although anecdotal, I really like my Peterson 303 System pipe. Granted I'm still new to the hobby but it's been my favorite pipe so far. I exclusively use it when commuting so my "trusty Pete" is on duty during my work week and he is off duty when I'm off work. I get a dry and cool smoke plus I'm able to break it down and clean it all out while it's still warm.

In fairness, I've yet to try out a p-lip stem, but I'm hoping to remedy that in the future. Nevertheless, the system pipes are definitely worth looking into in my opinion 🙂
