I was mistaken yesterday. This is Astleys, circa 2020, not 2018. Thos was afyer K&K stopped the beautiful presentation upon opening the tin, and just plopped a small brick of flakes inside a square paper thing. Not nearly as good as it was, but it’ll suffice out here on the beach, in one of my Hilsons.

I’ll guess: So 14 pipes for 14 days, or 2x7 amd do it again if you go through 2 a day, plus 1 spare =15, plus some cigars for more active pursuits. How’d I do? It cries out for a guess; you did too much planning here not to.

A Medico made from Brylon, not briar. The very first pipe I ever owned. I bought it from the local B&M. The long time owner passed away and his daughter took over. It used to have a good reputation but the daughter doesn’t know anything about pipes or more importantly, pipe smoking. She told me to run a finger of honey around the inside of the bowl. Oh naive me: newbie pipe smoker. It wasn’t until I found this forum ten years ago that I was informed that is a really bad idea.
She gives every new pipe owner a ‘guide‘ on how to break in a new pipe in which one of the steps is to line the bowl with honey.
Anyway, after sorting that out it turns out my little Medico isn’t a half bad smoker.

GL Pease Blackpoint is the first smoke in the new Savinelli Whiskey 320. I've never had Blackpoint before and I'm not yet sure how I feel about it yet. It's a good smoke so far, but it doesn't wow me. However, it's also a freshly opened tin so a couple days after being opened might do it some good. No problem picking out all the leaf and nuances, just not wow factor. Yet. We shall see.1000000694.jpg

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, snapper and snow peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm just finishing this bowl of year 2019 C&D Yorktown in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Terracotta 4AB No.108/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Took the trash and recycle cans to the street. On the way back to the back deck, Daisy the Feral Princess laid in front of me for love and attention, which she got, of course.

This seems to be a common thing, especially long ago. I was discussing this with my mentor many years ago. He opened my eyes. I really enjoy raw honey, but not in a pipe. Honey is 70-80% sugar, ever burn sugar on the stove? Not a pleasant experience, that's exactly what's happening in a pipe.
