Good morning. Shopping day today. Finished yesterday with a smoke with a pipe (pipe bowl actually) and a tobacco I haven't smoked in quite a while, maybe six weeks or so. Put my (buttered rum dedicated)
meer-lined bowl on my bent brown Falcon, and loaded it up with
Backwood's Buttered Rum.
I had an excellent, very enjoyable smoke. Couple of points here . . . . I really don't like rum based tobaccos, either pipe or cigar. Don't like the real stuff either. Always drank JD Bourbon or Scotch. Bud Light, too. However, I do like this rather interesting Backwoods version - to my tastebuds, light on the flavouring with some really sturdy tobaccos that have real substance as the main event. Therefore, the exception to the rule. If I smoke a flavoured aromatic, it's usually cherry flavour, which I like and smoke a couple or four times a week.
Skippable Anecdote below picture.
Skippable Anecdote: An incident on this that you may find amusing. I have an open jar policy at my home, and Mike and another buddy suck up buttered rum like no tomorrow. The last jar of it was gone last week. I have a private stock of tobaccos that doesn't go out on the guest rack. They know that Backwoods is on that list.
"Where's the Buttered Rum?" Mike and Josh and Tyson all asked, at separate times btw.
"All gone." I replied.
"When you getting more?"
"I'm not." I replied.
And they all winced.
I'd told them, and all my other friends who drop over that a tobacco shortage was impending and to stock up. They didn't listen. The gist of the comments was "Gord, I hate it when you're right. It's always so ugly."
So now they smoke what I have, which is seven jars out, lots of good tobacco, mostly bulk, that I'd stocked up on or that I have in abundance. In small pipes now, of course, until this madness ends. Which it won't. Stock up, folks. It ain't gonna get better.
