Another full day of ranch chores...got two raised beds all prepped and ready to go, with critter-proof coverings (I hope!). The one with the low ceiling will house lettuce and spinach, the higher one will get cilantro and carrots (placed well away from the horse, naturally). Went up into the workroom afterwards with some GLP Windjammer in a Foyard Rhodesian, and a vodka tonic. One of the better smokes I've ever had, probably because I absolutely dried the Christ out of it. Wifey came in, took in the room note, and remarked, "It smells like 1981 in here." I responded by whistling the intro theme from Wall Street Week. Ahhh, the joys of marrying an older woman. 9.5/10

Bird report: White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, Chipping sparrow, House finch, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, California quail (surveying nesting spots, I'm sure), Hairy woodpecker, Northern flicker, Mountain chickadee, White-breasted nuthatch, Western bluebird, and Spotted towhee. Another full cast for this brief warm period.

Full chicken roasting in the oven, as I embark on the final month of my 30s. Codgerdom, here I come! :)

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, fed all the ferals including the extra hungry Abner the Eager, who is still eating. M'lady fed Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger. I'm smoking year 2022 Solani 633 in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Straight Grain Made in England bulldog with a diamond shape shank and black ebonite stem. This pipe came from the estate of David Cuneo.

Popped open a jar labeled "Shelby Foote 2019" from my cellar, smoked in a Savinelli Bing's Favorite with a brownblast finish. Me from 6 years ago forgot to label what I mixed with the EGR, but whatever it was has a nice, mild, nutty burley taste that compliments the blend fairly well.

While I was digging around in the cellar, I found a 2020 tin of Reiner Blend No. 71 (the long-boy flakes in a gold paint can kind of thing). Really looking forward to that one in the morning. I popped open the tin and had to fight the urge to grab a fork and start eating it.

I've had off-and-on problems with tongue (and lip) bite, less lately since I've slowed down the rate of my smoking by a considerable amount. Yeah, finding certain tobaccos now more the problem, and some very short stems, but I think this is more technique than an inherent problem. Your pipe and it's qualities caught my interest. . . . . source? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

After Post PS . . . . it's a pretty good looking pipe to boot!
Bought straight from EA Carey. It’s the “Super Bowl“ pipe. Apparently, when Mr. Carey’s buddy who was high up with the Chiefs in the 1960s, won their first SB, he made him a gift pipe with a huge bowl, and called it the Super Bowl pipe to be funny, That pipe is gonna get to try Sutliff Sweated I can guarantee.

And thanks!

Now smoking year 2020 D&R Penhooker Silver in a straight smooth brown undated pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock 263 Canadian with a nickel band and a tapered black p-lip stem. Have done the major work on writing reviews of the Rivertown blends. There's a couple or three that I need to revisit followed by rewriting and editing. But, now I'm starting prelim work on three of David Cuneo's estate pipes. I have five in action, and seven cleaned that need to be dedicated at some point. I also got a tin of C&D's The Beast today, and will start reviewing that either later today or early on Wednesday.
