Good morning all, weary eyes after watching Australia demolish the West Indies at home last night on a deteriorating pitch. Coffee was fist order of the day and the second is some Geometrie' in this Castello #33 with silver band. This is a Scotti era pipe and has a miss stamp making it an oddball with only Carlo stamped in the oval.

Afternoon Smoke, and a Sweet Farewell:

My afternoon smoke was not unexpected. Planned, actually. A 4th break in smoke, with the Mr. Brog no.52 "Scoot", and a bowlful of Captain Black Dark. Very nice smoke - pipe coming along well indeed. It's a terrific smoker, now a beloved ugly duckling.

And the "Sweet Farewell" . . . was continuing to enjoy the Sweet Jane cigar when some idiot phoned me 3/4 the way through, and the cigar went out as I was listening. By the time the conversation ended, the SJ was dead. Tried to relight as there was enough left for 15 minutes before I would put it down, but the relighting process and first draw or two was not great. Maybe I'll get another one of these one day, but not today. I did not find the end game of the cigar that bad at all before it died. Yeah, a bit stronger, but certainly not unpleasant.

Next time I won't answer the fone.
