Another cool morning with light rain in the forecast--what is known as High Summer in the Pacific Northwest... McConnell Red Virginia in the Bones Poker with coffee.

The fawns are about, just about done with their spots...

Looked at this pipe and post, and travelled on. Then came back to it, several times, as this little sucker started to grow on me. And now . . . . 😃 👍👍 YEAH!!

Liked the fawns, too, but they made me hungry and they're out of season. Nicely done pipe photo and tin composition, as well. :)

Starting off my smoking day with a bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger. Going to check on the ferals after I post this smoke. With a 105 degree heat index, and Paul Skenes pitching for the Pirates today, I'm deciding whether or not to walk before the ball game, which I can DVR. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Did most of a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in an undated straight brush etched black Molina apple with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Brought Abner the Eager in to eat, and he's snoozin' under the kitchen table. Fed the other ferals, too. Tomato the Brave is laying near my feet. Skenes and Pirates play after the top of the hour. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a 1999 smooth brown medium bend Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Baskerville with a sterling silver band and black vulcanite p-lip stem. Giving the 4AB Natural a day of rest. Gold Star Nightwish, neat, is my drink. Both the Pirates and Brewers have aces pitching day.

Near the last third of this bowl of year 2012 Butera Pelican in a 1970s slight bend black sandblasted English Rustic 120S Billiard (Comoy’s second) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe originally belonged to my college art mentor, the late professor Walter Barker. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

Current Health Update and Twofer Smoke Post from last night. One at a time. Then, this afternoon's Skippable Drivel.

Health Update:
Well, gonna be a Chatty Cathy for the next couple of days, cuz I'm bored out of my skull. My hernia surgery was absolutely successful. However, my surgeon (a personal friend) gave me detritus maximus because it had grown to dangerous size because I wouldn't sit still. Was too active. Tell me about it. But all's well that end's well. However, the catheter and bladder problems are still ongoing. Reason? The hospital itself lost all of my blood test and prescription records. Gone. Nowhere to be found. Computer glitch, whatever . . . My surgeon is furious and is taking some steps to get the situation rectified and I'll have to sit still while he does so. And he will. Just have to put up with major discomfort for a few more days with this rotten catheter inserted into my wiener and he gets me the prescription needed to prepare for withdrawal. 'Nuff said.

Last Night's Smoke was a dandy, and it's also about killing two birds with one stone. I smoked a full bowl of C&D Sunday Picnic in my Oriental Dedicated workhorse, the Ropp R07. Can't say enough about this pipe and its versatility and smokability.

First bird to kill, I used my Canon Pixma 1 as a prop - I approach photography one shot at a time, and set each shot up individually based on the color profile of the printer. That's why my posted onlinexposures are often erratic . . . . I use a 21 mp Pentax K-s2, or my 24 mp Pentax K3, both capable of stunning 16x20 prints, exceeding 2 1/4" square enlargements in quality by more than a hair. They are not color balanced for online use. And it will remain thus, I'm afraid.

2nd Bird to Kill is all about deceit and guile, and will have most of you rolling your eyes or laughing your heads off, depending on your disposition, should you choose to read Skippable Drivel. First of all, though, last night's smoke:

IMGP6055DeceitandGuileopt.JPG

Skippable Drivel: When friends and guests come into my house, I have an open tobacco bar. Three 4 ounce jars of Smokers' Pride Cherry Cavendish, Smokers' Pride Vanilla Cavendish, and Smokers' Pride Whiskey are always there, and they can pig out on those (which imho are terrific tobaccos, btw) with as much as they want and as large a pipe as they want. Go for it.

Three 2 oz jars of more expensive fodder are also in the tray, and I rotate those each visit so they can have two pipes each visit. I suggest they use a smaller pipe for these, but they don't have to. They also know that once 3 red stickers are on the jar, when that jar is gone, so is that tobacco in the rotation. I have told them truthfully, that at the 3 sticker point, I have less than a tin left and they can only have it on special days - ie, it's off the menu.

I had a small jar of Sunday Picnic out, and it rapidly reached the 3 dot stage. Most of them sucked this tobacco up whenever it was put out.

When I told them it was gone because I now had less than a tin and it was an endangered species, there was some disappointment. What I didn't tell them is that I had an 8 ounce tin, :ROFLMAO: nnnn shown on top of the Canon printer with the seemingly miniscule Ropp J07 leaning up against it. I'd obtained this tin from the US before I got nailed in the Great Tobacco Gauntlet.

Now, theologically, St Thomas Aquinas would call this the use of deceit under the use of guile (deception by words) and/or fraud (deception by deeds or action). Given the nature of the product and cost, venial. And this is also written up under Canon Law. And yeah, mea culpa. Might come clean one day, but in the meantime it makes a good story, I hope. Cheers for now.
