Update: I was out of the hospital immediately Monday, save for two hours sleeping in recovery. Was going to take a spinal but both doctor and anethisologist said my hernia was too big and recommended a general so i went with my team. I know and trust the surgeon.

Had a pretty good day - was actually walking around Monday, and Tuesday, but yesterday was not good - pain due to meds wearing off and a mis-reading by the prep nurse on the scan of my bladder. I said I needed to take a squirt and she said that there was only 7.5 ml in my bladder. I didn't believe a word she said and was in agony. Went and spent 12 hours in emerge Tuesday all day, where somebody knew what they were doing, rescanned me, and yeah . . . by that time there was over 800 ml in my bladder so they stuck a catheter up my wally (Canadian slang for you know . . . ). Not pleasant, but the drain was. I mean, I think a guy knows when he has to water the daisies.

This morning was fairly painful but right now I'm just exhausted so it's crash time.

Have only smoked three miniatures, 3 different Cherry Cavendish's, and a medium bowl of Pirate Cake. Nothing stellar . . . wanted something with a defined taste but all I got a metallic overtone from all so I'll lay of until I get the stitches removed on Monday. Aftereffect of the meds I would think. Can't much taste any food either. But mobile at least, and more than a little braindead. More than anything want to get rid of the catheter.

But, like the Terminator, "I'll be back." Again, thanks to all for the well wishes.
Sounds rough, Gord. Hope the worst is behind you and you can get out soon.

Man, @gord I don't ever wanna go where you've gone, but I sure am grateful we have docs who can address our ailments!

Yeah, it's been a bit of a rough ride, but the end game is in sight. Searing pain on movement gone, and stitches come out on Monday. Off to hospital today at 10:00 to get urine bag replaced (catheters are very unpleasant - affects the absolute core of our male being :ROFLMAO: ), but the alternative is worse. Made quite a mess in the BR until I learned how to empty the bag. Teachers they ain't in the hospital. As you said though, glad they can address our ailments.

Just woke up about 30 minutes ago. 15 hours sleep. Needed it. Good to see pipes again, and will try to catch up a bit when I get back this afternoon. The other downside is the meds effecting my tastebuds - one knowledgeable dude I talked to said the ear infection I had/have also would do the same. However, the tobacco world being what it is, there is enough variety there to find some leafy battery acid that stimulates, or at least triggers some response, in the tastebuds.

Cheers.

From the looks of the photo background, it would appear you have the entire family of these pipes. Are they all from the same maker???
I have 5 pipes from George. I lived in Bulgaria for the past few years, and his workshop was a short walk from our first apartment in Sofia. It was a real treat having him so close. I got to hang out at the shop with him and witness each pipe take shape!
