Update: I was out of the hospital immediately Monday, save for two hours sleeping in recovery. Was going to take a spinal but both doctor and anethiologyist said my hernia was too big and recommended a general so i went with my team. I know and trust the surgeon.

Had a pretty good day - was actually walking around Monday, and Tuesday, but yesterday was not good - pain due to meds wearing off and a mis-reading by the prep nurse on the scan of my bladder. I said I needed to take a squirt and she said that there was only 7.5 ml in my bladder. I didn't believe a word she said and was in agony. Went and spent 12 hours in emerge Tuesday all day, where somebody knew what they were doing, rescanned me, and yeah . . . by that time there was over 800 ml in my bladder so they stuck a catheter up my wally (Canadian slang for you know . . . ). Not pleasant, but the drain was. I mean, I think a guy knows when he has to water the daisies.

This morning was fairly painful but right now I'm just exhausted so it's crash time.

Have only smoked three miniatures, 3 different Cherry Cavendish's, and a medium bowl of Pirate Cake. Nothing stellar . . . wanted something with a defined taste but all I got a metallic overtone from all so I'll lay of until I get the stitches removed on Monday. Aftereffect of the meds I would think. Can't much taste any food either. But mobile at least, and more than a little braindead. More than anything want to get rid of the catheter.

But, like the Terminator, "I'll be back." Again, thanks to all for the well wishes.
Wishing you a speedy recovery dude!

Buddy came over with a SP order we went in on together. If anyone else got a bundle of these tasting notes journals, the preface was an interesting read and I'm going to give it a serious go in the coming months. It's a neat idea and I'm surprised they don't just sell them on the site...

What breed of chicken are they?
We were told “Easter eggers” by the big box supply place we got them, but she’s learned different since.
I think theyre all rather nasty feathered lizards, and unfortunately I can’t at the moment have her clarify the breed-her food coma hit as soon as she came in from feeding them and the horses😆

EDIT-the mopheads are Cream Legbars (and we’ve got one White Legbar too).

PSLNF in a Stefano Rhodesian as I wrapped up another full day tending to the garden and greenhouse. No more security breaches, thankfully, and two more mouse carcasses for the crows. They've already claimed the airspace here, and I want to keep them around as hawk deterrent for when we finally get our chickens. 9/10

Bird report: House finch, Mountain chickadee, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, California towhee, Oak titmouse, American crow, Mourning dove, Western bluebird, California quail, White-breasted nuthatch, Hairy woodpecker, White-throated swift, Anna's hummingbird, and American robin.

This pipe is dedicated to my 2011-12 LA Kings, who won their first Stanley Cup championship 13 years ago today, and ended 20 years of personal fan trauma in the process.

Man, @gord I don't ever wanna go where you've gone, but I sure am grateful we have docs who can address our ailments!

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2012 St. James Flake in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-early 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood T.V.F. Made in England EL billiard with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo.

Here's the line up after that:
year 2012 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad.

Dipped into a jar so I could smoke a bowl of year 2004 Edgeworth Slices in a straight sandblasted black billiard 2013 PSF POY Kaywoodie with an amber colored tapered lucite stem.

Did a little snacking, and have finished smoking Ken Byron Ventures Jim’s Special Flake 2023 in a black rusticated full bend 1984 Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Been a busy evening. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Just finished smoking Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked, and the model that he smoked it in. Time to feed the ferals.

A third of a bowl left of Wilke Wall Street w/o perique in a year 1987 ebony full bend Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Fed my cats, and three ferals. Didn't see Abner the Eager this evening. I may end the day with this smoke.
