Part way through this bowl of year 2023 H&H Viprati in a 2000s brown quarter bend sandblast Pierluigi 140 brandy military mount with a silver cap and a caramel acrylic saddle stem. Been writing and editing reviews as I watch/listen to the Red Sox beating the Yankees. Harry the Hairy is lying near my feet. Molly Danger is not thrilled about it.

Vegas Baby!!!
Last pipe of day. Dark Flake in a 1915 Patent Pete with Ryan Alden Stem. The original stem was Amber that disintegrated the first smoke. I had a replacement stem made by a popular restorer. The stem was so poorly made it was almost tossed in the trash with the pipe. I asked another pipe restorer to make a stem. It was a molded stem he just filed on. So frustrating. Then I asked Ryan Alden, an artisan who I have purchased multiple pipes from if he would do it. He accepted. This is the result. Now I love this pipe.

It also launched Ryan saving many old pipes for me. Great stuff.

My usual Sutliff 507-C in the vauen olaf bent egg #4873. While i was sitting in a lawn chair in the back yard about 10-15 birds flew into the woods and started repeating a low chirp sound. They were all making the same chirp at repeated intervals from different directions. I've never heard that before. After a minute or two I saw the reason, a grey and white cat was coming through looking to hunt chipmunks and mice and the birds were mimicking the chipmunk warning chirp to throw off the cat which turned around and walked away after 3-4 minutes. I'm guessing it must have tried to go after a bird at some point and they are not giving it a second shot. Pretty cool defensive system in my opinion. To quote Yogi Berra, you can see a lot by looking.

Now smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 1984 medium bend black grain etched Savinelli Non Pareil 9310 pokerish dublin with a horn ferrule and a black vulcanite flared stem. Have several pipes dedicated to this blend, but it seems that I only reach for a few of them. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Tomato the Brave came in, ate and left. I brought Abner the Eager in to eat, and as of now, he's made a snooze nest out of m'lady's lap. Daisy the Feral Princess wasn't hungry. I'm going to let Harry the Hairy in after I post this smoke. The motion light on the side of the house has come on the last two times I went outside. I suspect it's Shy Stripesy.

It was raining all day so I took a break from yard work to smoke my home made cob under the covered porch. The pipe has proven to be a solid 40+ minute smoker. Today it was filled with a house blend of (roughly 33% each): my kicked-up Three Nuns, my modified Golden Days of Yore, and a rum infused corn silk concoction. I suspected the blend would be a smooth, sweet, tangy smoke and I was not disappointed.

Did a little low calorie snacking, unloaded the dishwasher, took out the trash and recycle, fed Sleepy Suzy and Harry the Hairy, and have a third of a bowl left of year 2020 Pfeifen Huber Virginia Golden Flake in a 1938 smooth straight brown patent Dunhill R 115 bowling ball apple with a tapered cumberland stem. Going to watch the Orioles-A's game that I recorded. Abner the Eager is snoozin' on the couch. Harry the Hairy is in the kitchen. The others are outside.
