Near the last third of this bowl of Ken Byron Ventures Mr. Christian’s Brown Flek 2021 in a smooth brown full bend 1984 Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Been busy traffic copping feral feeding.

Well, this is a big day for me. I am thrilled and honored to show the debut of my new Larry Roush Poker pipe that I just received this week.

I have wanted one of Larry's works of art for several months now and knowing how I like the poker shape, he contacted me that he had just finished one and I could have it if I wished. "Heck Yeah!!" was my reply.
I went back and forth on which blend would accompany me on this maiden voyage but finally I settled on some Escudo.

Some of you know that my belief in what is the #1 characteristic of a great smoking pipe is draw. This pipe is arguably the finest drawing pipe I have ever smoked. Not to much, not to little...... It is perfect!!!!

Each of Larry's pipes has it's completion date, maker's name and pipe number. This pipe is number 2,791 and has the hand carved sterling silver band and all of the other Roush trademarks.

Larry is a member of this forum and while I won't divulge his username (I'll respect his privacy) I would encourage any of you that are interested in seeing more of his brilliant works to go to his website:

I couldn't be more pleased!!

Congratulations "lifer"😁 When I was in the Navy and we'd call someone a lifer we didn't necessarily mean well, but I do here! Every pipe smoker in Tennessee needs at least one Poker!

My wife and I take care of ferals, too, and most happen to be mackerels. That look is the classic, “I’m happy to be here and all, and I’m not scared, but I’m watching you because I just don’t quite trust you yet.“ Seen it many times. It’s in the body language, too.

We have some wonderful, sweet ones we care for, but it takes more time and effort to build trust with mackerels, usually.
Thanks for this post. I learned something today. Mackerel, in my world, is a fish. I never heard tabby cats called mackerel before. Had to look it up. Now I know. Beautiful cats.
Enjoying a bowl of SWRA in a cob. Have a good Saturday evening everyone.
