Granger in a $15 size Marxman “Big Boy” Scoops, or a Chubby Apple, whatever you call a huge pipe shaped like this.

100% acetone followed up with Obsidian Oil made this pipe look brand new.

Note that the two $15 size Big Boys on top are nearly as large and have about the same huge chambers as the two $25 Marxman 400s on the bottom.

All these were made of the largest and best Algerian plateaux pieces in the factory.

Half way through this bowl of first production Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar family era Barling’s Make Billiard 6 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. The stampings suggest 1930s, but the “6” is a previously unknown stamp number and placement. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Watching an episode of Chico and the Man. Haven't seen this show since it was originally aired. I wanted to see this particular episode because of the guest star, Jim Jordan, who was Fibber McGee on radio. It's the only television appearance of this actor who's made me laugh a lot. We took the name of his wife "Molly" for Molly Danger.

Lord (soon to be made Baron) Inverchapel on a western tour as Ambassador to the United States from the United Kingdom made headline news in 1946 when he located two $15 London Best pipes in an Idaho smoke shop.

His shockingly young and ravishingly beautiful filthy rich Chilean socialite wife could have bought her husband a $15 Marxman Big Boy of equal quality in any of the finer department stores she shopped at.

20 year aged Virginia No 1 in my other Marxman Big Boy Scoops, or is it a Chubby Apple?

BTW 20 year old Virginia No 1 will still bite you, unless you adapt your draw to not let it.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2016 Newminister 400 Superior Navy Flake in a straight smooth brown year 1948 Parker Super Bruyere patent 23 88/F bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Squat bulldogs are great clenchers for me. Looked outside right before this post, and none of the ferals were around. That'll change soon enough. Going to read baseball box scores in a couple of minutes.

One does not really own a truly fine pipe.

We are custodians of it during our time.

Smoker Friendly (Sutliff) Bourbon in a magnificent Marxman Benchmade Jumbo “Big Boy”.

These were almost the size of a 400.

The inflation calculator says a $15 pipe in 1946 would be $247 today.

These sold beside custom tailored suits that cost a hundred dollars (and up) and Hamilton Piping Rock wrist watches that cost $200 dollars, or $1,648 or $3,296 today.

If you could afford to shop in those stores $15 was pin money.

And to think all the suits and most of the watches, all long gone.

Last smoke of the day is year 2020 D&R VIP in a 2004 smooth long shank Trever Talbot Ligne Bretagne Faite en Bretagne 4/3 lumberman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Tomato the Brave showed up, and was rather picky about the wet food, but ate a bunch of dry. He's snoozin' on his favorite blanket. I'm sill reading box scores.
