A quarter of the way through this bowl from a freshly opened tin of
year 2022 Astley’s No. 109 Medium Flake in a black sandblasted straight 1998 XXX Ashton Pebble Grain lovat with a black acrylic saddle stem. I'll end the day with this smoke as I make revised review notes on this current production.

Well, Rona's in the house. My wife is miserable and my son just has mild cold symptoms, but my daughter and I are both negative. This is actually round 2 for my son, who had it last fall also. Thought maybe I'm too mean and ugly to get it, but my daughter is neither of those, so..... anyway....

This morning I'm smoking Golden Extra in a cob.

Gave up trying to sleep, so I'm half way through this bowl of year 2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style.

Shenandoah Vally Virginia
McConnell Red VA from a Jason Patrick lovat.
Finished the pipe tonight. 2nd I've ever made, and second stem also. There's no shortage of flaws, that's for sure. Boy do I respect the artisans who have mastered this craft. I at least had a great time in my shop doing it.

I'm going to christen the new pipe I got at Blatter & Blatter in Montreal on Saturday. I posted about my visit here. This family run business has been at this location since 1970, but, have been based in Montreal since 1907. It only makes sense to have Blatter Reserve for the maiden voyage for this pipe. I believe it was Patrick Blatter behind the counter on Saturday—he described this pipe as a Lovat—it doesn't have a saddle bit stem, though; the shank is round, so it's not a Canadian (although, literally made in Canada)—I guess a Liverpool is most accurate?

Anyway, I'm going to have Blatter Reserve in this Blatter & Blatter Lovat (who am I to argue with the pipe maker?) It's the largest size they make. I fell in love with the grain of this pipe. Hopefully, the blend and the pipe smoke well. The tobacco has a nice spicy, smoky pouch note.
