Now smoking year 2014 Saint James Flake in a smooth straight Lane era Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Ice tea and bergs is my drink. Braves staged a comeback, so it's 5-5 with the Marlins in the 10th.
Now smoking 1950s Rum & Maple Tobacco Company Rum & Maple Mixture Blend No. 53 in a medium bend egg 2017 Royal Meerschaum Dragon meer with a black and cream swirl amber colored acrylic tapered stem. Braves lead the Marlins 7-6 in the top on the 12th.
Late 1990s vintage Royal's Darby in an estate Hilson Splendid Dublin with fishtail bit. Despite being 20+ years-old this blend delivered a delightful smoke.
Royal's Darby was a creation of the late Darby Pipe Shop of Mattoon, Illinois, and was described in Larry Kniepkamp's blend list as follows: "If you are a Burley smoker that demands flavor this mixture is a must. The finest aromatic tobaccos form the base of this medium bodied blend. Added is a light cherry cavendish for the subtle perfection of aromatic qualities."

What a ripoff. This was touted as being Einstein's favorite blend, and I smoked this sitting my deck in the nice, peaceful summer breeze, and not ONE insight into space-time relativity or the origins of the universe came to me.
It was a pleasant smoke, though.

Part way through this bowl of Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight late ‘50s, early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. This should get me to dinner time. Cubs and Cardinals are playing on ESPN.
I enjoyed a wonderful tomato pastitsio with lamb and feta cheese dinner, and dessert was strawberry short cake. Not far from finishing this bowl of Full Virginia Flake in a much cherished smooth straight grain three quarter bend 1979 Becker M 4 heart brandy with a black acrylic stem. Packing up "hate mail" tobacco for a friend.
