For the past several days I’ve been on a kick with GLP Cumberland. The tin was from the first tinning back in April 2002, and I opened it back in March while checking some of the Pease tins for corrosion. It had a few exterior rust spots, but the interior and tobacco was perfect.
I tried it then and thought it was good. Not great, just good.
A few days ago I dipped into the jar and was totally floored.
Sweet, in the ‘orange’ range of sweet. Spicy, like a great Thai sauce, not Tabasco. The underlying aftertaste was ‘likker, not a tame liquor.
This stuff just needed a breather. Thankfully I have 3 more tins of that vintage.
Outstanding blend!!!
