A shame. I love pipes of that size, and can usually get an hour out of them, thanks to cosmicfolklore's slow smoking PDF. Made all the difference to my smoking experience.
Well, I suppose the poor fellow thought pipe smoking was all tweed jackets and leisurely afternoons. Now the pipe just languishes on his shelf—like some tragic relic of a misadventure into the arcane art of combustion.
By the way, I’d be rather keen to learn more about that smoking method you mentioned. If you happen to have a link to the PDF, I’d be most grateful. Always good to revisit the sacred texts.

It's posted on forum, and I've downloaded it. One way or the other I'll track it down for you asap, or PM Cos and he'll direct the traffic. It's a gem. And so is your friends pipe . . . I believe it's the same one I have and posted above. Great sipping pipe.

I might have to pick up this pipe again — I’ve really grown fond of my Nording Compass. That small bowl works surprisingly well for me; I’ve gotten used to smoking smaller charges of tobacco, and it turns out to be quite convenient.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, snapper and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of Watch City Jim’s Golden Ticket in a straight smooth brown mid-late 60s Corporate Era Barling 5579 London England (made by Charatan) lumberman with a black vulcanite double comfort stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Sent a sample of this soon-to-be released blend to a couple of friends, and was pleased to hear how much they liked it. @Ernie Q will let us know something soon.

August has arrived, and by tradition, I believe it’s time to kick off the new thread: “What Are You Smoking, August 2025?” I’ve just cracked open a fresh delivery of tobacco and, of course, already fired up a bowl — it’s only fair to share some
impressions. 😄
Let’s hear it, everyone — what’s in your bowl to start the new month?

Now smoking and still reviewing C&D Sun Bear Navy Cask 2025 (Small Batch) in a 1986 three quarter bend Bacchus face CAO meer with a tapered dark tortoise shell colored acrylic stem. Tomato the Brave didn't want to eat at his usual time, but he made up for it about ten minutes ago. Daisy the Feral Princess came in when he went out, and is relaxing on a blanket. Harry the Hairy has been in all evening, mostly snoozin'. M'lady went around the neighborhood attaching flyers to mailboxes regarding Abner the Eager. Hope we learn something.

Thanks. It doesn't look good so far. If he's not around the area any more, then I hope somebody got him and gave him a safe and loving home. I would be content to know that if it was the case.
Considering the response to my post that I quoted here, I realize that some of you may not know that we don't own Abner the Eager. I don't know who - if anybody - does. All we really know about him is that he spends a lot of time navigating the neighborhood, and that other people must be feeding him on different streets, too. We take care of him when he's here not just because it's the right thing to do, but he loves us and vice versa. Since we haven't seen him lately, we are very worried about him.

We don't own the other three ferals either, but we take care of them, and lots of affection is shared. Daisy the Feral Princess has gotten to the point that she seldom leaves the deck or back yard, so we essentially do own her. Tomato the Brave is the street ambassador, and is friendly with everybody he sees. Everybody loves Tomato. He roams around to a few houses. When Harry the Hairy isn't here, I assume he goes to wherever he came from. He always returns, though.

If I told you folks how Daisy and Tomato were treated by their so-called "owners", it would not make your evening a happy one. I'll just say this: as long as I have lived here and at other places during my life span, I have never had cause to dislike a neighbor until I found out how mistreated D & T were. M'lady and I have made up for that.

Last smoke of July was some GLP Cumberland in a Rattray Fachen Billiard. Originally it was my fancy burley pipe but tonights smoke has me thinking its a pretty good virginia machine too. What a shame, I'm gonna have to keep experimenting to see what tastes good in this pipe, how ever will I manage.
