Did a set of walking reps, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Fed all the ferals except for the still absent Abner the Eager. Put the ball game on pause while I walked, so I'm back to it now.
Ground up flavoured cigars (both chocolate and grape) have formed the basis of two of my best home blend keepers. And plain cigars., especially my go-to Principes Caiibbeans, have formed the basis of another that didn't quite make it, but it was the other ingredients that didn't "work". The unique nature of the Caribbeans came through though, and is a thing to work on.
This kind of experimenting, I think you said it best . . . . "adds something I can't quite put my finger on."
It's like bringing home some rabbits or trout after a great day outdoors, and wondering the next day how you're going to cook them.

This is a very relevant post for me, because I actually now have enough tobaccos (about 30) to form a modest cellar of jars. About 10 tobaccos so far have been stored in 2 ounce jars for future use, with another 20 or so blends planned - those that I have enough of and can get fairly easily. Rare birds need not apply. Counterproductive. Gonna smoke 'em.
Whether I make another 5 years is a moot point cuz they'll benefit others.

It's like their Mad Fiddler, for me. Had to try it because I actually was given that nickname due to a particularly stellar solo violin performance of Stravinsky's "L'histoire Du Soldat" in my playing days. The fact that I actually loved the tobacco was a bit irrelevant - I'd have kept a tin on hand and display just because of the name.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a 1999 smooth brown medium bend Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Baskerville with a sterling silver band and black vulcanite p-lip stem. Giving the 4AB Natural a day of rest. I have two other unsmoked Baskervilles; a PSB and a regular sandblast. Some day, I'll figure out what to smoke in them. I like this model; very clenchable. Gold Star Yemen Mocha High Grown, neat, is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Getting ready to clean a few pipes as I watch the Braves get their tails kicked again.
If it's a private package in holiday season, not very. If it's from a tobacco source, 100%. If your name is on their database, iffy. Best to keep things modest. Creeping Big Brother is still a little guy in the USA. In Kanada, he's full blown and a bully. Black markets are now flourishing. As are picnic tables everywhere in the suburbs for precisely the reasons I posted in the preamble to my Ricoh story. Dogs and cats are now black market items, too. Fortunately, most Snivel Servants are lazy and especially afraid of large, aggressive dogs which are growing in popularity, especially Rhodesians lol. The pioneer spirit is still alive in the north.

Today I cracked a new tin of Windjammer. It’s one of a few blends that I have a dedicated pipe for. A lovely Brebbia MPB 601 from the Sailing series. Proof that I’m susceptible to the power of suggestion. Luckily the pipe and leaf blend get on great.
Just a beautiful pipe! I'm not usually attracted to the panel style bowl design, but this one just "works". It also suits my taste with respect to the large amount of wood on the bowl, great for heat distribution and hand holding. Love this one! And forwhatever reason, I've also found that Petes (at least mine) are particularly adept at handling Navy and English style tobaccos.
Another nice, sunny day in the PNW. Out to take a lunt with the pooch...and an old favorite blend. Pipe is an Armellini Calumet.
Now smoking Watch City Jim’s Golden Ticket in a 2020 straight smooth dark brown Chacom 213 Bayard Opera Made in Saint Claude France with a tapered black vulcanite stem. First time smoking this pipe that was gifted to me by a friend who likes this shape, and thought that I should have one. I wanted a second pipe for this blend that's a little shorter smoke for days when I need that.
I think this ones cool. I like the green band. Cool looking pipe!
