Morning Sutliff 507-C in the Vauen bent egg. Well ... I missed the first flight ... the wrens are out of the nest and flitting around on the hillside. I only saw directly one baby flitting along a branch testing its legs and grip then it flew upwards to each branch only a few inches or foot at a time. I can hear at least four adults chattering instructions. I'm guessing there are 2-3, from what little I can see through the bramble, in flight training in a small area in a tree in the sunlight. The parents don't let them sit too long (20-30 seconds) and make then fly progressively longer distances: 2 feet, 4, 6, 8 etc. Its like watching National Geographic or Nature while smoking a pipe and drinking coffee but without the mindless commentary !!!

Stanilsaw Balkan Latakia in a small MM corn cob pipe.
Some say that Latakia blends are not for summer, not for heat weather conditions. Well, I disagree, I like them and smoke them through the year.
Some also say that there are other blends, much more superior than this one which is "not rich", "flat", "without personality" etc. Well, I disagree as well. I liked it from the first time I smoked it many years ago till today and prefer it over very well known and established relatives in the family. But, as said many times and by many, our hobby is highly subjective.
Have a nice week good people!

I agree. I like latakia blends any time. Like now for instance. Smoking Shepherd's Pie in a cob at the moment.20241206_133040.jpg

Good morning! My favorite first smoke of the day is Amphora Burley Blend in a cob. Black Eight O’Clock coffee is my preferred drink. For many years my go to was Sir Walter. I liked it. I loved the granular cut. Just drag a cob through the tub and it was packed to perfection. My mornings are a “fuss free” zone. I’m an old retired fart for goodness sake!

Getting some cooler temps the last couple days up here in the PNW. Woke up this morning with a hankering for one of my all-time favorite HU blends. So i had to dig around through the cellar and pull a tin of Night Owl for immediate "testing." This stuff is excellent in this Castello SRB. I think this is about as close to an all-day smoke as it gets for me. Enjoy it any time to day. Today it was the waking bowl. Slept for bout 12 hours! Now off to get that morning protein and coffee going...
