IMG_4835.jpegMaybe it’s just me, but I keep gravitating toward pipes with conical chambers. The draw feels smoother, the flavor stays deeper all the way through the bowl, and the burn seems more controlled — looser at the rim, denser toward the heel. Whatever the reason, I tend to reach for them again and again. I have a theory — unscientific, but intuitive — that the narrowing shape slightly concentrates airflow and heat as the ember descends, kind of like a slow, mellow Venturi effect. It might all be in my head, but the smoking experience feels more cohesive and flavorful. Curious if anyone else shares the same impression?

Now smoking Watch City Simply Gold beta in a 1970s slight bend medium brown Caminetto Business 134 poker with a pearl gold acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Harry the Hairy showed up more than an hour ago. He hid under the deck from the storm, which is still going on. Tomato the Brave wanted out earlier, and I could not convince him to stay inside. An hour and half later, he came back inside to eat, and is still inside. I knew Harry would be mostly dry, but wherever Tomato was hiding on or under the deck kept him dry, too. Daisy the Feral Princess and Abner the Eager were too smart to go outside.

Did a little low calorie snacking, and am at the half way mark of his bowl of year 2012 Butera Pelican in a 1970s slight bend black sandblasted English Rustic 120S Billiard (Comoy’s second) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe originally belonged to my college art mentor, the late professor Walter Barker. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

That's a beautiful pipe with a simple, yet surprisingly elegant, shape. I love that it has a story, and obvious sentimental value as well.

Enjoyed a tasty red delicious apple, and am smoking Wilke Back Bay w/o perique in a straight smooth brown undated pre-Republic Peterson Dublin Sterling Canadian 264 with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Fed Daisy the Feral Princess who has spent a bit of time snoozin' by my feet. Did the same for Sleepy Suzy, only she's been by my side for hours. Harry the Hairy's been snoozin' for hours. No cat that I've ever seen can sleep as long as he does and not move at all. Reading baseball box scores.

Last smoke of the day is year 2000 SWRA in a straight smooth 2024 Peterson Red Killarney 264 Canadian with metal accents around the shank and a black acrylic p-lip stem. Tomato the Brave came in to eat, and play. I threw a few cat nip balls at him, and he batted them around the den to the amusement of Daisy the Feral Princess and Sleepy Suzy. I had to laugh when he has one in his paws and bunny kicked it right to Daisy. Daisy looked at him as if to say, "You just ain't right, boy."
