View attachment 156621Onto some sutliff Elizabethan match in a savinelli sandblasted punto oro bing’s favorite. I got this pipe as an estate and it was barely smoked! This blend has been taking me a while to get all the flavors now I’m really digging it! I think it works better in a narrower chamber. Has anyone tried this blend? Happy smokes!!
I've been smoking it for twelve years. I used to smoke the Murray's version of this blend, and missed it when it was discontinued in 2005. It's not a perfect match for the original, but I'd rate it around 90% close. The original was more floral and spicy, and a tad sweeter.

Btw, the current Peterson Elizabethan is different from both. When STG brought it back to market in 2013 under the Dunhill brand, they changed the formula from the Murray's production. That's an important thing to know.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of C&D Anthology 1992-2022 in a 2015 straight dark brown Peterson Irish Harp 150 bulldog with a silver band and a tapered acrylic cumberland fish tail stem. Watching the Braves-Mets game.

I'm seeing Anthology a lot lately on the internet. but only the picture, it is usually out of stock. how does it compare with other similar tobaccos you had? off the top of you head, anything similar to it?

I have a lot of questions for you as I enjoy your reviews and they help me zero in on certain tobacco notes.
My friend and I are on a quest to find Balkan Sobranie. We have not had any luck, even after 6 months of daily searching. I even traveled 300 miles round trip recently visiting and speaking to many B&M stores and their owners in person and still I have had no luck. What is my best option to find this elusive blend, and are there blends that may fool you...me in thinking I'm smoking B. Sobranie???

Thanks so much for your thoughts Jim! I haven’t had either old versions of Elizabethan so I was assessing this on its own. I’ve got a couple tins of the modern version but I haven’t cracked them yet. I was kind of put off my the chocolate smell at first, I thought they had accidentally sent me an aromatic! Today was my 3rd or 4th bowl and I finally got the vaper flavor. I’m hoping I can pick up more nuances as I smoke through the few ounces I’ve got. Do you have a pipe that you think brings out the best in this blend?
Best,
John
