Awhile ago I wrote, "Denby's Tobacco Barrel Country Gentleman (about 32 yrs old; B&M closed in 90's) in a Vauen Olaf bent egg. This old tobacco is very similar to Country Squire's Rivendell" CORRECTION: I just did a one after another comparison and the old Country Gentleman is almost identical to Country Squire's Hunter's Creek. I believe Hunter's Creek is similar to Rivendell with latakia in it. Its hard to tell the difference between the 32 yr old C.G. and the new H.C. I used to smoke Country gentleman exclusively many years ago. I only have about 1.5 ozs left. And i need to go order tobacco now as by the time I get it I will be low. Have a great Sunday everyone !

About a quarter of a bowl left of 1970s Philip Morris Revelation in a 1920s-30s Grant’s Pipe Shop Corinthian Deluxe 409 (made by Comoy’s) smooth brown medium bend bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. It's time for my weekly Sunday pipe chat.

Well, yesterday, my Mac Baren Navy Flake wasn't tasting quite right so I cleaned my pipe for the first time. Just scraped the soft stuff from the bowl, then swabbed around the bowl once with a q-tip dipped in alcohol (91% isopropyl) followed by a stuffed paper-towel twisting around. After that, I really went to town with cleaning the stem (pipe cleaners and alcohol) and spent heavy focus on cleaning the mortise and tenon (q-tips and alcohol).

I've been smoking my tobaccos a little too wet. I hate trying to decide when I get up (around noon) what I might want to smoke later (around 3-4 pm). So some of these flakes that really should sit 2 hours after rubbing out have been rubbed out and gone in after only sitting for 10 minutes.

Well since I cleaned the pipe, why not run more of the last smoke? Mac Baren Navy Flake again that I let sit for 3 hours after rubbing out, tasting like it's supposed to today. Going to go back as well to swiping out the warm bowl after every smoke with a paper towel to prevent that soft garbage build up.

Meanwhile, placed an order for a 1.75 oz tin of Mac Baren HH Burley Flake to start slowly working through my wishlist.
