Started the day with HH Pure Virginia in a Moonshine bent egg and finished it throughout the work day then I smoked HH Bold Kentucky in the same pipe for the last half of the work day and the drive home. I’m probably not going to smoke anything noteworthy for the rest of the day, I’m feeling “the need for speed” and want to jump on my Mil-Sim flight sim (DCS World) and get into some dogfights!

Having another bowl, thus Choc Flake remains a godly blend and a solid favorite. 2008 is a nice vintage.

A typically beautifully proportioned example of the period.

BBB / BBB and A.F & Co. stamped on the army mount with marks for Birmingham 1900
(Adolph Frankau & Co. gold & silver workers, silver mounters & turners, manufacturers & importers of pipes and tobacconists' sundries, Queen Victoria Street, London EC)

From 1902 the A.F. & Co. stamp was into a chamfered rectangle 1626997748605.png

Just lit up a bowl of Wilke No. 184 in one of those delicious Ossie pear woods of somewhat mysterious origin*. In this case, a carved, bent billiard.

* not that there’s anything wrong with that…

nie żeby było w tym coś złego….

ne že by na tom bylo něco špatného…

nie, že by na tom bolo niečo zlé…

не те, що в цьому є щось погане…

….

@virkia The French tobacco translates as "s**t of horse - the best tobacco under the sun".
Don't know about the best tobacco under the sun but it sure needs the sun to dry it out before cutting the cake

On October 16 2015 tin #54 was sold at Christies for £182,500 and in August 2016 one of the tins sold for a new record of €275,000 at an art auction in Milan,
The Citroen 2CV "Deux chevaux" doesn't really only have 2 horsepower, it refers to its French tax band.
Say it ain't so

The ‘59 was so much better. Before they sold out…

Ah, that is a great looking pipe. I have 2 Bertram pipes in my collection, and the 120 billiard that I own is probably the best smoker I’ve ever had. Their pipes always seem to have such a wide open draw
This one certainly does. Great smoker! It loves straight Virginias. I had been wanting a Bertram for a long time, and am thrilled to own the one I have.
