I imagine that picture was taken here in Newhaven, the staging point for the Dieppe raid. Although not considered a success many lessons were learned that saved lives during D-Day. I always try and make it to the memorial in August where we have monuments dedicated to the French and Canadian troops that gave everything.
Aye you are correct it was taken at Newhaven ? As a veteran I fully appreciate the selfless commitment these men made and that present Forces personnel continue to do. My late uncle lived in Southampton and he would take me and my sons to an area of brick wall where soldiers scrawled graffiti before disembarking for the Normandy landings.
Lest we forget.
Kind regards

I couldn’t agree more. There’s similar writings up at Newhaven Fort, I’d love to show you around if you’re ever in this part of the woods.

@halfdan thanks mate ?I can see the appeal of a slow smoke competition but the fastest to smoke a bowl seems to me to be a waste of good baccy. Clan would be good for that as it’s usually tinder dry ?
Happy smokes

@Ettrick puffer I found out that's what they use for this event; now I can see why!
I notice the Condor packet on the table in this video from a few years ago...
