Yes, back in the days of yore when the tips were treated they were mostly glazed:-I always thought the clays sold with colored tips were done up with a lacquer, the same type that would be used on clay figurines. I also thought that’s what they did in the past but I’m just thinking and guessing.

This thing is tiny but it's such a great Lil' smoker, really blown away that i am able to get a 45 min from it. I thought it would smoke hot but but it's smooth and tasty!!
