Now smoking Smoker’s Pride Mellow Taste in the very first pipe I ever bought ($2.49) in 1974; a smooth three quarter bend Dr. Grabow Omega military mount with a nickel band and a black vulcanite stem with a p-lip. Going to do some walking now.

The PNW
Finally home after a 2-week trip, and first bowl up for the day is Hearth & Home's Black House, in an Eric Paulson bulldog. A pleasantly cool, overcast day here in the PNW, and a very nice contrast from Florida, where it was in the mid- to upper 90s and very humid every day I was there. Whenever I go back to the old stomping grounds, I'm reminded why I don't live in Florida!

I'm trying out some Match Edgeworth Ready Rubbed in a Carolina Gentleman cob. This evening I'm going to dig out my tub of the new Lane's Ready Rubbed to try them against each other.

This is good--The burley isn't overpowered by the topping, which is mainly a molasses taste. There was some cocoa in the tin/bag note, but I'm not picking that up in the smoke. I'm struggling to keep the cube-ish cut lit. If I dried it more or rubbed it out it would probably work better, but that sort of frustrates the purpose of the original. I definitely like it, but I'll have to work on these mechanical issues more.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have about a third of a bowl left of Wilke Lizzie Blood Virginia in a 2003 medium bent straight grain military mount Two dot 2 P. Ardor Venere Extra Bucaneve signed by Dorelio Rovera with a silver ferrule and a black acrylic stem.
