Trying some Silver Oakum from Market Tobacco Patch in the Bruken 1006.

I picked up an ounce while on a long layover in Seattle. I was stunned by the 95% tax on pipe tobacco tins. Fortunately, the house blended tobacco didn't suffer from the same taxation, so I gently placed the $35 tin of Escudo back on the counter and slowly backed away with a $7 ounce baggie of the Silver Oakum.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of Peretti Blend W in a straight black sandblasted circa 1950s Comoy’s Peterson’s made for Peterson, Ltd. in Wisconsin billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is snoozin'on m'lady's lap. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' on her blanket. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' on the couch. The others are outside. We're watching the first Hopalong Cassidy movie.

Good day all! Been thoroughly enjoying 1792 Flake the past three days and finally found a dedicated pipe for it, namely a Wilke smooth Billiard with long pencil shank and pinch waist tapered stem size 4. Looking forward to tomorrow's first bowl of my favorite mix: 1792 Flake and Wilke Chocolate. Yes, please.

This prohibitive taxation is what causes a wanna-be local b&m patron like me to buy 95% of my stock online. It's a sad state of affairs that they do this and then try to prohibit us shipping it in to force us to pay them their penance fees. I'm not game. So secret squirrel methodology it is.

Onto another great bowl of out-of-state procured goodness. This time 2010 Wessex Burley Slices in a Fikri Baki bamboo. Pipe from Turkey, baccy from parts unknown (or at least undisclosed...by necessity). *Rant over.*

And of course, ordering tobacco online in WA is against the law, so you have to get creative. Policies like the making of online orders actually illegal are why I moved out of WA.

Yep. One way to deal with it.

Over the years i've built a decent list of good folks who are willing to work with me and know how to get the job done. Heading to my other place in Florida in a few weeks and won't have to rant about it here again until the summer anyway. :P

On the tobacco front, I did as well. I amassed 340lb of tobacco before I left the state. The other areas were harder to reconcile. I haven't fully updated this, but it is pretty close: http://tobaccocellar.com/Wyfbane
