Sitting on a friends porch while dog sitting with PS 31 Optimum in a Peterson Aran Smooth Nickel Mount X105 Billard and a cup of espresso.
Almost a third of the way through this bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style.
Sheesh, I hate it when work gets in the way of my smoking!

I imagine this gnarly root had to be set up in some kind of jig and everything needed to be carefully checked for alignment from top, bottom, and sides, and kept stationary for drilling. The chamber is conical and the draught hole drilled at an angle to meet the shank airway. The gnarliness is deceptive. This was essentially drilled with just two straight lines. This is not exactly lined up, but these three Churchwarden pipe cleaners should give you a pretty good idea of the drilling (the bent pipe cleaner should be a little higher):
The pipe fits well in the hand, and is fun to smoke, but its tall profile presents a slight problem with relights, as the top of the pipe is above your sight line while smoking. I have to take special care when holding the lighter to avoid scorching the rim while blindly relighting.

Sneaking in a quick bowl of 1792DKF with a dash of Yorktown prior to being stuck driving across town with my boss to pick up a halfmillion dollars worth of new sewer cleaning truck…I probably shouldn’t smoke in it until the newness wears off.

Enjoying some GLPease Piccadilly in a Peterson Emerald X105 on a rainy and gloomy day in Michigan.

It's a fantastic smoke too. Wide and smooth drilling, spot on. Stem is very comfy too.
