Last night, Spilman Mixture, an old time blend revived by Hoffmann, in a slightly bent smooth Luciano author, a brand pipe stamped with a date of manufacture, 2013.
Enjoying the rare pre-10 AM smoke with a bowl of KBV Mycroft and a cup of joe. Another beautiful day in Tucson!
Makes me think of Emlyn Williams. I saw him in CA in the 70's doing his one man show of Dylan Thomas. Great actor and writer.
The inaugural smoke in my Mark Tinsky pipe that I commissioned for my 60th birthday (actually yesterday,* see more in pipe thread). I chose 2013 Capstan Gold RR for the first smoke in a MarK Tinsky (American Smoking Pipe Company) 1-Star Bent Pot (5), Starting with a bottle of Stella Rosa Moscato di Asti by my side.
Smoking Mac Baren Vanilla Roll Cake in a Crown basket pipe I picked up from a Tinder Box a couple years ago...really starting to enjoy this blend the more I smoke it.
Enjoying now,Super Balkan-C&D,Hot infusion orange, ginger,with a little old rum...........
Time will tame the blend. A couple of months in a jar will make a big difference. Pirate Kake is over the top out of the tin but after some time in a jar it mellowed out to a smooth blend and not so overpowering.

More Sutliff Ready Rubbed in an EA Carey blasted apple with a nylon Cumberland stem. I've never seen this stem before or since on any Carey pipe! Coffee, black.
Moved on to MM Diplomat Apple with Sutliff Match 20.
