Smoking Balkan Mixture into a unknown pipe look a bit like a kiseru pipe . Smoke super good for a 5 min bowl . View attachment 63336What material is the bowl made of? My in laws in Korea send me similar pipes,and I'm not sure if they're ment to be smoked,or just to be looked at.They look purely ornamental to me.

I think its made of brass , was good the first view drag but it sure leave a metal aftertaste... gonna stick with my other pipes ?

After several weeks of +30c temperatures todays much lower temperature and mostly dull weather came as a bit of a shock. On the positive side it made smoking a stronger mix all the more enjoyable.

I used some Navy Rolls to beef out the last of my Germain’s Special Lat Flake. To compensate for possible Lat dilution I added some Kendal medium cut Lat to the mix. I’m using a 60’s Donegal Rocky Bulldog and I have just enough for another bowl which is a shame because it’s one of those one off things that you throw together that work out really well.

Close to finishing this bowl of Sept. 2015 Savinelli Doblone d’Oro in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem.

Enjoyed a tasty navel orange, and am now smoking year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a smooth straight late 1970s Charatan Special 4148DC Reg. No. 203573 pot with a black double comfort vulcanite stem. This should get me to dinner time. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Why there's no BBB stamp on the pipe is a mystery to me ...

... unless they felt the stamp inside the case was enough ...

What I take to be later examples of the cased THE HANDY pipe are on a single page from the reproduced 1912 BBB catalogue - photo courtesy Reborn Pipes - which advertises the pipes with stems made of either vulcanite or horn and uncased examples of THE HANDY on other pages with vulcanite stems only

Watch City Flake #558 in a Refbjerg Straight Grain Canadian ? Still not sure what to call this shape. Maybe a Danish Canadian. The shank is oval, so I'm sticking with a Canadian of some sort.
