OK, this is not going to be a popular answer, so let me preface it by admitting that I suspect that my taste buds must be seriously flawed and I would appreciate any help that may be offered. I am currently smoking ... Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish which, for some reason, even after trying at least 20 other cherry blends recommended as the "best," is the one I prefer. And yes, it sometimes anesthetizes my tongue, and on occasion makes my pipe sound like a sippy straw looking for what's left at the bottom of a milkshake. What can I say, I like the strong cherry taste. But I do suspect that there is something out there that would appeal more even to my apparently defective sense of taste, and as I've never actually tried anything but cherries and vanillas maybe that something is a non-aro. Any suggestions?

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, French cut pork chops and zucchini dinner with strawberries and pineapple for dessert. I'm not far from being half way through this bowl of Sept. 2015 Savinelli Doblone d’Oro in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching an episode of The Untouchables.

You must really like that pipe, Jim! I think I see it every day!
It, along with my other Charatan that Conrad had owned are very special pipes. It took me over thirty years of wanting one before I was lucky enough to own them. They not only are great smokers, but they belonged to a great Charactan collector who just happens to be one of my favorite actors.

In fact, I'm smoking it as I type this.

Enjoyed a tasty navel orange, and am a third of the way through this bowl of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 2018 smooth Peterson Premiere 312 billiard full bend silver cap military mount with a black vulcanite saddle stem and p-lip. Time to do a little Zooming.

If you like it, smoke it with pride. They wouldn't make it if you were the only one! As for non-aros, I suggest Orlik Golden Sliced and the Stokkebye Luxury Flakes for Virginias and GLP Maltese Falcon or Balkan Supreme for Latakia blends.

Now smoking McConnell's Scottish Flake in a Johs bent apple.

A complete change of pace for me, a cherry aro. Low Country Cherry in a cob. I haven't smoked any cherry flavoured tobacco product since they stopped selling flavoured gas station cigars here a few years back.

Edit: Just remembered I also smoked a friend's homegrown burley cherry aro that tasted kind of like sour cherry dirt, but with a bite.
