Enjoying some 90s vintage Ogden's St Bruno Flake in a Falcon. (Thank you, thank you, thank you @BROBS !)
Celebrating surviving a whole year after my heart attack with a (single) glass of Petrus Aged Pale Sour Ale!
Piping saved me from cigarettes and I've made some healthy lifestyle choices, including becoming vegetarian and limiting myself to an occasional drink. Hoping I keep going long enough to smoke what I have cellared!

A beer or whiskey at night [Or, one of each] is actually good for ones heart, so now you can say with a straight face "For medicinal purposes" It's not a sin if one happens to enjoy ones medicine. That's called a bonus : }

Over 20 years ago I was given 3 years max due to a vascular disease. I'm not frightened of death but my boy was 4yo. I couldn't leave him.
So I did a LOT of research. The single most important thing that I learnt [apart from ditching cigarettes] was that margarine & veg oils such as canola & sunflower for example, actually weaken arterial walls.
In defense, the body lays down cholesterol to protect from aneurysm.
Hardening of the arteries was not common before people accepted margarine & non-cold-pressed oils.
Before rationing in WWII they couldn't give away margarine or sunflower & canola oils.

COLD-PRESSED veg oils are fine. Butter is a natural product that I consider a health food.
Margarine, sunflower & canola oils are denatured crap. [Curious then that health authorities recommend the garbage as the 'healthy choice']

These oils also damage/alter cell walls that can lead to the wall being unable to pass insulin which leads to diabetes.
A leading authority on diabetes said that margarine & non-cold-pressed veg oils are the leading cause in the rise of diabetes since WWII.

Congrats on your recovery. I've been a vegetarian for over 25 years. Although I still think that the smell of dead animal cooking is simply delicious, I no longer feel the need to eat it.

Country Squire Shepherd’s Pie in a Baglan claw and egg meer.
Going to try my first bowl of Shepherd's Pie tonight. Looking forward to it, although my Mom (who really was quite a good cook) made the most disgusting Shepherd's Pie when I was a kid, and the 9 year old boy still living in my brain is protesting this smoke.
