Starting off my smoking day with circa 1970 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed in a 2002 smooth top, black sandblasted quarter bend Karl Erik Ekstravagant horn with an acrylic horn insert in the ferrule and black acrylic stem. A can of the very delicious Hansen's Creamy Root Beer made with pure cane sugar is my drink. Watching Gunsmoke.

Day three, smoke five of break-in for the Purdy-blasted Old Jersey Reserve Special. Carter Hall is, as always, the break-in smoke of choice. I’m not getting that bare-bowl, woody taste that I expected with this one. I don’t know if it’s because of the 30-odd years of extra curing or what, but I’m pleased. So far, it’s been the smoothest break-in of an unsmoked pipe that I’ve ever had.

Frog Morton Cellar in a Peterson Killarney 999 Rhodesian P-Lip; this blend goes especially well in this pipe.
