Not Much of Interest Smoking Wise Today . . . . . just another Bantam Falcon Bowl Break-in with straight Sutliff Lat and a cheap cigar or two. Ho hum and not worth a picture. So let's go to the TA-DA!!! New arrival in the mail this afternoon:

You may be wondering what this music (Fritz Kreisler's Tambourine Chinois) has to do with the new Falcon Stack bowl I just got a few hours ago. Actually, quite a lot.

I remember beginning to learn the Kreisler in 4th year University, and wondering "How on Earth am I going to play this 2 1/2 minute monster? More technique packed into this beastie than quite a few concertos.

I'm saying the same thing about the Stack bowl. Not confronted anything like this before. Guess I'll have to find out the same way - I tackled "Tambo" head on and, although not one of my frequent encores, did perform it as an encore a few times and as I said yesterday, I had planned on including it on a concert when I was programmed to play the Mozart Violin Concerto #3, when covid nailed us.

Any suggestions as to how to approach the stack would be welcomed. In the meantime, I thought a few of you might like to hear this nifty little piece of terror :ROFLMAO: in an incredible live performance by the master Fritz Kreisler himself.

Enjoy. See y'all tomorrow.
I love this You Tube clip! Thanks for sharing! I am a long time and enthusiastic fan of what we generally label ”classical” music. That Falcon stack is a natural for Virginia blends.

Davidoff Scottish Mixture (Burley, Kentucky, Oriental/Turkish, Virginia) in a Stanwell H.C. Andersen (9mm) with its short stem.

This has a dash of whisky in it, but it's not discernible. Earthy, bready, mild. No bite. LOVE this.

Now, to figure out why (if you can offer advice, I'd appreciate it!) I don't know the proportions in the mix. One reviewer said that the Burley and Kentucky are at the forefront. It seemed less "acidic" to my palate than Virginia-forward blends. It's very different from anything else I've tried, and very, very pleasant.

I thought it would be peaty or smoky, and was prepared to have Russian Caravan tea with it instead of coffee, but when I opened the tin, those scents weren't present (maybe due to the absence of Latakia?), so I had English Breakfast tea instead, and it was a great pairing.

Listening to Tracy Chevalier's "The Last Runaway" on loan from the library. We got snow last night. Judging by crow-feeding this morning, it's covering ice. Will be staying home today; current temp is -1°, and it doesn't look like it'll get above 17°. I think and hope that my meer will arrive in today's post. :)
