Today I did a side-by-side comparison between C&D’s Three Friars and my version of Three Nuns. The Friars had a more distinctive Virginia component but definitely is in the same ball park as the current version of Three Nuns. I preferred my version as it’s got a bit more complexity, and while it has a bit more punch, it’s smoother. I used an old Hardcastle Diplomat and an even older Medico “Double-Dri” for the test.

Another pipe of Coniston Cut Plug in the Grabow Lark tonight, with a cup of English breakfast tea.

There's just so many flavors going on in Coniston Cut Plug that I've been smoking it almost every day for about 2 weeks now and still haven't tired of it, which is a real rarity for me. Sometimes it's a little more Burley chocolatey, sometimes it's a little more red Virginia fruity, sometimes it's a little more Lakeland floral, but it's always dark, rich, and satisfying. There's a lot to taste here and it's always little different from puff to puff, in the same way that really good English blends are.puffy

Passing the first third of this bowl of Wilke Surbrug’s Crystal Palace in a dark brown smooth straight post-WW2 LHS Certified Purex 79 bulldog with a nickel ferrule and tenon with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This will get me to dinner time.
