Starting out December with HU Directors Cut from the recent USA drop.

I have a small sample of Director’s Cut gifted to me from 2018. I must say, when I opened the tin today, the look and smell was amazing like the 2018.

I dried it 30 minutes, and starting out it’s quite light tasting on the VA, Kentucky, slightly floral sweet.

I’ll have to just try it next time without drying. Maybe it will get more robust as I smoke through it, but I didn’t expect 30 minutes to be long, unless this is a mild smoke to begin with… hmm 🧐

Be well everyone! 🤙 ❤️

Wow December already… time flys… ⏰

I've passed the first third of this bowl of year 2018 Solani 633 in a straight 1954 patent Dunhill 148 Group 3 black shell bulldog made for the France market with a black saddle vulcanite stem. I took part in a zoom meeting the family of my dear, late friend David Cuneo. Some of you may have seen what I wrote on this forum about him. It was a special time for all of us to trade stories about him.

The first day of Advent which, being a penitential season, I decided to try and see off the last of the Sammael Gagworth 1792 Relights Granny 's Underwear Drawer Flake, in the condemned Chinese basket billiard. After the 17th charlight, it didn't smoke too bad, and stayed alight long enough for a sip or two... vanilla milkshake, with a hint of vinegar. Then, vanilla ice cream soda. With more vinegar. Frankly, I think I might have had as much fun wearing a high-nicotine patch and lighting up some broken up joss stick in the pipe instead. On the bright side, the penance might have gotten me maybe an hour's remission from Purgatory.

Thank you. I found the original 1890s design on the web, downloaded and printed it, and stuck it on an old repurposed tin. I work as a costumed interpreter at a heritage farm showing farming life circa 1900, and this is also why most of my pipes will pass muster as Victorian. I like to get the details right.
