Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am passing the quarter mark of this bowl of KBV B. Frog’s Study in Scarlet in a medium bend smooth paneled 2017 Celebi Turkish Meerschaum with a tapered gold and black swirl acrylic stem. Drinking Lavazza Classico, neat, from a freshly opened bag.

2017 Haunted Bookshop in my short Peterson.
Took a few extra pictures as I recently cleaned her up. Hoping someone can help me understand this grain. Very fine, and the ends are not birdseyes but rather solid short lines at cross-section.

Is this what some call angel hair?

I’m wondering if your pipe was cut with the plateau oriented at the bottom and we’re seeing the Birdseye being sliced at an angle along the shank so that you’re not seeing the normal curlicues. Just a guess. I’m thinking a pipemaker would know grain better.

Did a second set of walking reps, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2012 Carter Hall in a 2015 Basil Meadows black sandblasted billiard with an aluminum band and a pearl red acrylic tapered stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
