Relaxing after a wonderful salad, snapper and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm a third of the way through this bowl of year 2002 Reiner’s Long Golden Flake in a smooth dark brown quarter bend 1950s Comoy’s Blue Riband 187 yachtsman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

I should add, I'm good friends with at least one mail carrier who works for Canada Post, and I sympathize emphatically with all Canada Post employees. They don't have an easy job. They're not treated well by their employer. They walk tens of kilometres every day, and it's never enough, because the company keeps adding more kilometres to their routes. They suffer injuries. Stress. Harassment. Horrible inclement weather, especially here in Winterpeg, where the city rarely does an adequate job of clearing the sidewalks in the deep winter months. They risk slipping on ice and breaking their backs. People don't properly shovel their front steps. They get attacked by rabid dogs. You name it.

But here's what happened with my pipe delivery on Monday. I was watching the tracking information. The pipe arrived at the delivery office on Monday morning and was out for delivery. I was home and had nowhere to be, so I was watching for the mail man, who I know. And he knows me. We've interacted a lot over the years. I see him coming up the front walkway, and I open the door for him to hand me a package. He says, "have a good day." I look at the package. It's not the pipe I'm waiting for. It's 6oz of tobacco from Ken Byron Ventures with no duty on it. I'm like, "huh? Where's my pipe." I go to check the tracking information and it says "recipient unavailable at time of delivery...addressee be notified." But there's no notification. I saw the mail man. He handed me a package. Where's my notification.

The next day, my next door neighbour comes over to bring me the notification that the package is available to be picked up. Now, why would the mail man not have brought the package to my house. Could it be he's in a rush, overworked, trying to complete his route, pissed off that he has to not only carry extra boxes, but also this electronic device for taking customs payments. And half the time the recipients aren't home anyway. And I've got to carry this goddamn machine around with me! Fuck that. I'll just leave a notice and he can pick up his own goddamn customs package. Oh shit. He's at the door waiting for me, but I left that box in the truck. What should I do? I can't give him the notice or he'll know I didn't even try to deliver his package. He might lodge a complaint. Fuck. I'll just stick it in his neighbour's mailbox. Not my problem. Fuck I hate this job...

Something like that.

Not the first time he's done this. Then I've got to drive over to the mall and walk to Shopper's where the post office is. Take a half hour out of my day. Be late for work. $%&^%$&! Oh well. I'm not one to complain. :ROFLMAO:
I can offer no consolation, just commiseration. I have a tracked registered, insured, priority package still "stuck" in Seattle for days now (was supposed to be delivered Monday in Texas). Fully insured, and the postal inspectors are now on it, but who wants to go through that? Apparently our Seattle hub is notoriously understaffed....
p.s. Happy Birthday!

Following some post office shenanigans, I received my Asteriou birthday pipe a day late. I was going to wait until after Christmas to pay this off, but SP gave me a Black Friday discount even though I already had it on layaway. Fine folks! It was out for delivery on my birthday, but apparently my mail carrier doesn't like collecting customs payments on his route, even though I was home and waiting for him, he stuck a delivery notice in my neighbour's mailbox and said "recipient unavailable." I was a little peeved.

Breaking it in with some D&R Ramback Balkan.

I tried out some KBV Deep House in my Stanwell 30
Had precisely the same issues with my last international delivery with customs due. If Canada Post decides they can go on strike anytime soon I hope they burn in Hell. 🤬 Typical X-mas season shennanigans! Don't pity the carriers, their pay and benefits outstrip the national average. I should have it so good.

Enjoy that pipe, it looks like it was definitely worth the wait. 🤩

It's St. Nicholas' Day today, the patron saint of children. I lit two candles in the window (tradition) and had a pipe while I wrapped gifts for my nieces and nephew. Eccentric and coffee.

Then I cleaned up the debris and loaded my new clay with some Eccentric as well and watched "The Duel" on netflix, it's a decent western. Pipe lasted the whole film and smokes superclean.

Now I'm bumbling around in forums for a while with my little meer full of Paradoxical. Life is good, unless you're waiting on deliveries from Canada Post. If you are, you have my genuine sympathies. :poop:
