Relaxing after a wonderful salad, two big French cut pork chops and pinto beans dinner with a slice of rose lemon cake for dessert. I just finished smoking Seattle Pipe Club Hogshead plug in a well appreciated medium bend, smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson 999 Dublin chubby Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

That’s a beauty. I didn’t want to start a new thread with this question so I thought I’d try it here: I’m thinking of buying an antique pipe with an orific bit. Is there any bad point about such a bit? I mean to the smoking experience? I’m supposing not since I seem to recall that you have more than one pipe as such? Thanks!
I had to learn how to clench it so it wouldn't roll around in my mouth when I smoke a pipe with an orific bit. Generally, I choke up on the bit anyway, so it wasn't hard for me to get used to. Otherwise, it's like smoking any kind of of non-p-lip regarding smoke distribution.

Sillem's Blue in this curious little dublin I cleaned up today from my father's pipe collection. Seemed natural to me to put a curious aromatic into a curious pipe. Using underscores for unintelligible letters, the only stamp on the pipe reads :
MA _ _ IED BRIAR or possibly MA_RIED BRIAR. anyone have any ideas? Pipe is probably from the 60s give or take a few years. Starting Chapter 7 in "Back from the Ashes"

A couple of minutes or so away from smoking year 2018 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad.

I fell down the rabbit hole of War Horse Bar threads again this afternoon, and decided it was high time to crack the tin I’d purchased recently. :) The smell was milder than I was expecting. I was pleased by how well the bar fit in one of those low-profile 8oz canning jars:

I loaded it up in my Kaywoodie "42" apple which I decided would be my pipe for DFK-based blends when I got it back from @peteguy. Then, life intervened, so the pipe got about 4 hours to air out before I could actually light it up.

From reading so many of @woodsroad and @condorlover1's posts beforehand, I braced myself for something weird and awful, but to me it just had a nice dark rich tobacco taste with something interesting to the aroma I couldn't put my finger on. I started to feel slightly woozy at the 2/3 mark, so I took a break before finishing it. Good thing I had eaten dinner beforehand! Looking forward to how this stuff tastes after the pipe has been seasoned with a few more bowls of it. puffy
