Now smoking Watch City Rhythm & Blues in an undated straight smooth brown Crosby Saint Andrews made in England “ Merchant Service-like Bing” with a silverish band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Still working.

A Sherlock Holmes pipe; I'm more of a clay man myself!
If Holmes had actually smoked a calabash in the stories he wouldn't have said what he said in "The Red Headed League"

“It is quite a three pipe problem, and I beg that you won't speak to me for fifty minutes.”

as a calabash can easily accommodate one hour and more of smoking.

Clays have their place but for me the calabash is king pipe and my go-to nowadays and I'm happy to use eight in my current rotation.

With apologies to John Keats and 'Dela':-
You silver mounted worshipped gourd
Owner of sweet and savoury tobacco, lined with meerschaum
What incense wafts incessant from your inside
What merry joys accompany your company.
What brave brow, what bold curve
Hairless rim-head, competitor of shaved eggshells
Not afraid to leave the rack and in the hand feel natural.

Clay tobacco is sweet, but gourd tobacco is sweeter
Funeral tobacco, party tobacco, you hold them better
What a roll of tobacco can be made for your belly
When tamping here this way and that
What charred fare, what fair glow
What gaping gap in your insides
To forever cool the smoke.

Fill me a gourd, then fill me another
Which are sipped ‘pon hours supped
Momentous joys from this dugout leak
From within thin wall and thick skin
What strong aromas of tobaccos reek
To please the senses and awaken the truth.
Smoking is truth, and truth is smoking
Let me now lie and tomorrow smoke again ...
