@carbonmated -- I love 'em. They're great beater pipes for yard work, shop work, walking the dog, etc. Very light and well balanced. The bowls are lacquer coated and I think they're sprayed. So, I'd suggest that you take a bit of 400-grit paper to the chamber to remove what got inside unless you want the first 3-4 bowls to taste like death.
