Madness Update and A Smoke Yesterday: absolutely do not remember the time of the smoke, but it was the re-unification of old friends, my Ropp J05, and Black Frigate. This pipe was formerly dedicated strictly to BF, but as a trial, to smoke this terrific little pipe more, (I've finally figured out its quirks), I tried a few other Navies and English Lats in the Ropp with fine results, and then went to a couple of bowls of Black Frigate. Same stellar smoke as before. Great fit. As the pipe was getting limited use, it now will see a lot more action, as it seems to be happy in it's new role.

Second photo is showing the current madness in another hasty snap. I've put in storage about 12 bags of these dried Saskatoons, and double that in frozen Saskatoons. Cherries? about 15 frozen bags, none dried.

And now the apples have shown their presence - I'd say four times the volume of Saskatoons and cherries. A mixed bag of apple crabs, one tree loaded,(mine a cross between Dolgo crabs and Spartans), regular Dolgo crabs loaded, 3 trees, and two trees of regular Northern Spy/Spartan cross I believe, lots and lots of them.

I'll photograph the apple trees tomorrow during a picking session. Will be hopelessly busy for a while yet, and sorry for the postings, especially commenting on others, which I really enjoy doing. But this and tomorrow's shot of the apple trees will give you an idea of what is transpiring.

Yup, a lot more work to do. My sister will unwillingly process the crabs (as long as I do the picking), but they're a few days away. Apple crabs half-picked, and by the time I dry them, the rest will be ready for storage - they last 3-4 months in a cool cellar environment. They'll be fine until December, and then I'll feed the remnants to my more than willing "pet" crows. Love crows, lol. Regular apples, ahhh . . . not that much but a couple of months worth will be in the fridge bin for raw consumption. They store very well. Cheers for now.

Ha ha, I see, so you wanna break things, I get it. I cannot emphasize the word "simple" enough. I literally took a hardwood dowel from the hardware store and started drilling holes. My guess is Birch, but I do not know. It may be toxic. This may be my last post. 😹

The bamboo stem is also just the gardening bamboo support sticks from said hardware store. Pretty easy to drill out the soft center with a long 3mm bit. Should I be embarrassed to share this? I really just wanted to see if I could make something smokeable. And I did!

The hardwood plug in the bottom, also of unknown species, is from an old rolling pin handle (salvaged from my old marble rolling pin that did not survive its meeting with the tile floor).

Edit to add: The 2nd smoke tasted better than the first. Maybe those toxins are burning off ...
Thank you very much for the details! I’m toying with a Mesquite experiment, since I have access to a ton of Mesquite. I will report back upon completion of these misadventures…

Passing the last quarter of this bowl of year 2017 Esoterica Dorchester in a straight smooth dark brown octagonal paneled mid-60s-early 70s Corporate Era Barling 4945 London England T.V.F. billiard with a square shank and black tapered square stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Cleaned a few pipes. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

You a more stubborn than me. I keep a trash can handy.
When im just puffing to be puffing while I do something else, I smoke less than stellar blends sometimes.
Yesterday I was talking with the neighbor, so I wasn't paying much attention to the pipe.
To be fair, my last post was a bit harsh. I DO like Nutty Irishman, even if it doesn't taste like tobacco....at all.
Its kinda like vanilla ice cream for me. It doesn't taste great, but its still ice cream.

This is exactly the role that Nutty Irishman plays in my smoking life. Not a soaring, singing leaf by any means, but by Jove it’s there when I need it to be there, and it does what it does, which is smell like not really tobacco and smoke pretty much all by itself.

More Stockton in the Ropp. Taking the old Samurai for a cruise. View attachment 413069

Wow! Those fantastic little trucks are an ultra-hot item up this way. Even a club with a very large membership, who trade parts, make them, and keep these gems running in top shape. Would have had one myself, but I had a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder that wouldnt' die until 2016. With 500,000 + MILES on it. Best vehicle I ever had.

Inherited my dad's truck a in 2014, when he died, and kept that sucker (Ford straight 6, 5 speed) going for 300,000 miles until it was stolen 2 years ago. Haven't been able to drive since - not only because of no truck, but if I was to be honest, times past that. Got lots of friends who love to take me fishing and hunting, because arrogantly said he, they KNOW that if they go out with me, they'll score, and even if they don't, I'll take enough to go around. :ROFLMAO:

You ever want to sell that gem, they'd be lining up to buy it up here! And you're flight back home would be paid lol!

They’re getting harder and harder to come by. This one is in good shape. Almost no rust. It’s a work in progress. I haven’t had time to work on it in awhile…..but I’ve got plans!🤣IMG_1646.jpeg
