C&D Exclusive in a 1985 Dunhill 5103 Shell Billiard. This one arrived yesterday on a slow Boat from California but was well worth the wait. It had literally sat the last 40 years untouched and is completely flawless. I have been looking for the right LB or LBS for quite awhile but this one grabbed me. I worked on the stem for several hours to bring it back to black and shiny from sitting and now I’m just thrilled with it.
So first smoke and Coffee ☕️ on the side.View attachment 411514View attachment 411515
Gorgeous blast. Congrats! Nice find. :)

Can't take my eyes of this pipe. Very very bad news  lol

If I ever buy another meer, it's gonna look like this one or close as possible! Totally within the realms of my own personal aesthetic. Biggest problem with meers is that I'll never live long enough to see 'em color up! and many are in the category of wretched excess. This one, however . . . . 🙃👍👍

That one turned out to be a looker. Nice score. The few i bought and kept all smoke great and fit/finish are well beyond price paid. 👍

Cleaned up the shop and pain supplies about a quarter to 10 tonight. Enough's enough for one day. There are advantages to having the shop only a door away from the smoking lounge, but then when i get close to finishing something it's also easy to keep the foot on the gas till later than i should. Wind down time is precious. Speaking of which, i'm doing just that with a bowl of Hamborger Veermaster in a churchwarden my brother made for me years ago (stamped Hoskinson Handmade).

Tell your 'bro that his CW is one of the nicest 'wardens I've ever seen. What a beauty. No secret I'm a fan of long stems, and this takes the kewpie doll out of about 4 pipes I've seen in my thread travels today that are to-die-for fodder! bdw 👍👍

I don't know why but my phone camera has the hardest time with the orange of the tin. Another blend I no longer jar because I prefer it "fresher" from the tin, even aged. Smoke it up!

Color bias is a pain in the butt and I struggle with it all the time on the forum. The only photos that pass my testing grade are framed exhibition prints I've made on my Canon Pixma 1. What I post sometimes online is totally cringeworthy, but I just don't have the time or patience to set up a template for each site I visit . . . . besides, everybody's computer or cellphone has a different bias and they don't usually see what others might see. 'Tis what it 'tis. As Telly Sevalis (sp?) would say, "Suffer, baby, suffer." :ROFLMAO:

Today's Smoke: Just another Blackstone Cherry Cigar as I type, before I do another day or so disappearing act doing the drying, prepping and canning thing.

Two noteworthy smokes yesterday, using recycled and cringeworthy snaps:

#1 - in my pipsqueak McQueen Miniature Fable, biased for Orientals, a very nice smoke (in the first of this category I've tried to smoke since being prescriptionized by the medical profession), with Amphora Absolute (Rich in the US). Chose this one because unlike others in this category, it smokes without as much nuance as say, Steamworks, Sunday Picnic, Savinelli 140 or other more complex fodder. It's rich and full, and I think the US designation more fitting. I'll use "Rich" from now on. Nice little briar pipe from McQ, giving me just shy of half an hour of relaxation. Taste still somewhat dilute, but fine by me.

#2 - A bit of a bummer. No secret I'm a longstem fan, but I've been absolutely surprised at the tiny pair of Brog Nosewarmers I have, and how much I like smoking them. The amber version of the shown pipe is smoking fabulous, and is fully broke in. Secret to these tiny things is that you have to smoke them SLOWLY. Very Slowly. Y'er pretty close to the furnace.

I hadn't smoked the black version of the Little Brog, which I've designated for English Lats, in quite a while. These little fellas have a surprisingly large bowl, and give me the hour plus smoke I like in the afternoon, especially with Lats. Not today. I loaded it with anticipation with my own "Basic English", and from the first puff I realized, being in a somewhat braindead state, that this pipe had only been smoked twice. Not nearly broken in. So I suffered for an hour with a really good home blended tobacco, mixed (nixed?) with the added flavours of burnt varnish and bowl coating.

Oh well. It's one step farther to being an afternoon go-to pipe. Time to stop whining and get to cleaning and washing my canning jars and other fun things.

Curious . . . is that a pet rabbit? We don't have rabbits in the north, only Snowshoe Hares, the northern cousin of true desert Jack. I'm thinking, because of the short ears, it's a true rabbit. Know nothing of "rabbits", which we call the Snowshoe Hare up here, incorrectly, except I've shot literally hundreds of. They make great stew, but need to be parboiled as otherwise they're shoe leather chewable.

Driving to work was Dark Sails in a Briarlee Illustrious.
I got to hear something on my way to work I’ve never heard before:
“Sir, please set the pipe down when you’re talking to me”…
It seems the officer in the left turn lane took umbrage to me not completely stopping at the light to make my right turn😐🚓
There goes my fun money for next month💸💸
