Backed myself into doing some serious deep cleaning today, happy to get it done though. I have decided to dedicate this Peterson rusticated 103 to blends that contain Latakia, specifically and primarily Nightcap, therefore I have loaded it with that tobacco and am about halfway through the bowl.View attachment 411228

I've found that my petes, especially the smaller one, take extremely well to Lats. Looking forward to doing the same with my as yet unsmoked (it has to wait for it's turn. . . . ) small Peterson Tavern Pipe, Rhodesian bowl. Expecting excellence from this one.

My big pete system standard also smokes Lats great, but because of it's large capacity, I re-biased it for aros and use it often for evening movies with friends, where I don't have to get up and reload after a mere hour. Peterson fan I am.

Nightcap is a dynamite tobacco, and it gets the royal treatment in my home with the L'il Pete. Wish I had more, but this is Canada, you know.

That's a marvellous pipe, btw. :)👍👍

Passing the last third of this bowl of Wilke Back Bay w/o perique in a smooth brown quarter bend post-2002 Porsche Design 277-04 radiator horn Made in Holland with an aluminum cap and a tapered black acrylic stem. Watching one of my favorite episodes of M*A*S*H: the episode where Hawkeye wanted barbecue ribs. Makes me want some. Sleepy Suzy's still by my side, but she doesn't eat ribs.

Seven or eight feet. The branch it’s laying on is about 11-12” in diameter.
Cute little guy though:

He actually is. All of our racers around here are black with a bit of white or gray underneath. I would imagine he is non-poisonous. I leave them alone around here as they help on the mice and vermin control.

This pipe is really cool, I don't think I've seen anything like this here yet. Very cool.

A real beauty of a pipe, Jim. You reference "military mount" frequently. What constitutes a military mount?
From Smoking Pipes: Army and spigot mounts address the issue of mortise/tenon joints being weak by reinforcing the mortise with a metal band or cap, and by using a stem that doesn't include a traditional tenon, but instead tapers to a point where it fits into the mortise.

I dunno how accurate this is, but this is the reason it's called a "military mount": These were originally made for soldiers to be able to smoke, pull the pipe apart to clean and store and not ruin it.
