Continuing review of the Heritage series from RMC. Robert McConnell’s Regent Street. I gotta say, I like it. Now, don’t get me wrong — it’s not GL Pease Telegraph Hill (which is my personal benchmark for Va/Per blends), but Regent Street holds its own just fine. Sure, McConnell markets it as a sort of nod to Dunhill’s old Elizabethan Mixture — but in my book, that’s more of a respectful tip of the hat than an actual recreation. The blend’s mostly dark Virginias with a pinch of Perique. It smokes smooth, burns evenly, and offers a well-behaved, restrained flavor: think subtle dried fruit, a bit of spice, and that gentle peppery tickle from the Perique — but nothing in-your-face. Honestly, it’s a solid everyday smoke. Perfect for slow, contemplative bowls — especially on warm days. Right out of the tin it’s a touch moist, but let it dry for 10–15 minutes and it opens up nicely. Pipe Pascucci P Rust-2137
P.S. P.S. At the local pasture😁
I like McConnell’s dark fired blends (Scottish Cake is a fave), so I’ll need to give Regents a shot-sounds good.

The last bowl of the day, 90/10 mix of C&D Red Va Ribbon and Granulated Perique in my Peterson St. Padraig’s Day 2025 sandblasted 53 lovat. I’m really excited for my morning bowl tomorrow, and then the bowl after that, as well; by the second bowl of tomorrow, well, I’ll have worked up a hankering for a third bowl, and then…

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am smoking year 2014 Strang in a 2003 smooth light brown medium bend straight grain Ardor Venere Extra signed by Dorelio Rovera Dublin with a black acrylic saddle stem. Watching an episode of The Invaders which was a fav of mine in the 1960s, and haven't seen it until now. Harry the Hairy finally woke up long enough to go eat, and is back snoozin' near my feet. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is on m'lady's lap. The others are outside.

Just finished smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a smooth brown medium bend early 1900s C.P.F. The Chesterfield (Peterson copy) French briar military mount billiard with a nickel cap and black vulcanite AB p-lip stem. It's time for some low calorie snacking.

Enjoyed a tasty red delicious apple, and am smoking Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked, and the model that he smoked it in. Sleepy Suzy is currently eating. When she finishes, I'll check on the ferals. Daisy the Feral Princess stayed out all day lying on a chair on the deck. Harry the Hairy finally did go out, but I know he'll want back in soon. Tomato the Brave was so happy to eat earlier that he came up to me, head butted my left leg, meowed and wanted out. Before I did that, Tomato stuck his left ear toward my hand, and I gave him the ear rub that he wanted, the li'l devil.

Now smoking year 2019 C&D Yorktown in a straight sandblasted black post-1938 (Comoy’s) Made in England Ancestor bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Watching the Orioles-A's game and reading baseball box scores. I had to bring Daisy the Feral Princess in to eat because she just stayed where she's been all day. She ate, probably too quickly, and then she coughed it all up, walked to the door and wanted out. I gave her a little attention before I opened the door, but she didn't seem her usual happy self. Tomato the Brave ate a bit, wanted attention, stood on my left foot while he got more ear rubs and head scratches. When I stopped, he turned away because he wanted me to scratch his back and the base of his tail. After he got what he wanted, he wanted out. Same goes for Harry the Hairy except that he prefers belly and back rubs. I ought to get masseur license, but they'd only pay me with hairballs.
