A 50/50 mix (approximately) of GHC Kendal Flake and Arango Balkan Supreme in a Peterson Kinsale Rusticated deerstalker (Rhodesian). My aim was to go for something that smelled (or tasted?) like incense, as inspired by the forum thread on this. I think the blend actually works really well, though I don’t know that it will scratch the itch that @rakovsky is attempting.

Hmm...I'd love to hear a little more about the experiment and how your coloring without smoking.
It's getting smoked for research, I've given up pipe smoking as a regular activity. When I still did though, that pipe would've hit 20 smokes in two days rather than 2 weeks. Had my daughter not gifted me that pipe at the same time I had an idea for coloring, it would never have gotten smoked at all and I'd have let her younger sister use it for her shadow box hobby.

Windsail Silver in a Vauen Olaf bent egg this afternoon. Slow sipping reduces or eliminates most of the topping bite and I am packing as tight as I can while still leaving some airflow. I really like the taste of this tobacco, hay, sweet citrus, bread but is there a method to smoking this blend ? Even with slow sipping it burns very fast more so than cigarette tobacco and it also seems to make the bowl very hot even with a simmering ember. Am I doing something wrong or incorrectly ? Does anyone smoke this regularly ? Curious as I like it the blend. Thanks in advance.

I'll be looking forward to the results. You're daughter has great taste in pipes.

Just finished smoking year 2016 Peter Heinrichs Special Curly in the first pipe Trever Talbot made when he went to France many years ago. It's a smooth straight Algerian briar Lumberman with a long shank and a black vulcanite saddle stem, unbranded.

Now smoking year 2014 Uhle’s 00 in a medium brown 1982 smooth slight bend straight grain Ben Wade Martinique freehand sitter with a wide top and a black vulcanite stem. Haven't smoked this pipe in a while, but it got heavy usage during the 1980s. Great smoker. I should take a better photo of it.
