Two pipes yesterday, as planned, one afternoon, one evening. Chomping on a
Kwiki Grape cigar as I type. No morning smoke yet. Was great to do a pipe after a 4 day hiatus.
Both smokes were pipsqueek pipes, the
McQueen Miniature Acorn, in the afternoon, and the
MM Minicob last evening.. Two excellent sessions of just a touch shy of 30 minutes each. Didn't want to stretch the tonguebite scenario with a medium, yet, and accomplished the goal. Both were loaded with
Bengal Slices. A quick and dirty snap of the proceedings below.
Beginning to taste the variety of flavours in a Balkan, Slices being one of my favourites of the type. Could actually taste the Orientals in the blend, finally. The tobacco tasted better in the pipsqueek McQueen , which is dedicated to the tobacco. Every once in a while, a certain blend just works in a particular pipe, and this pipsqueek had a thing for Slices from the beginning.
The MM coblet prefers a less strident blend, like TobaccoBarn's Traditional English, or Presbyterian Mix, and is genre dedicated for outdoor use, like the rifle range. But it got along just fine with the tobacco. Win-win.
I'm heading off to the range in an hour or so with shooting buddy Dave, for the first time since my operation on June 9th.
I'll be taking the Falcon with bantam bowl today, however, and a cigar or two. Tobacco will be Brigham's English Mix, which smokes great in the Falcon. Cigars packed in the little travel case are a Phillies Blunt of some description, and a couple of Colt Whiskies, and the pipe of course. About right for a few smoke breaks in a 4 or 5 hour session. Oh yeah, a 35mm canister of chew, as well. A must!
