I am not fond of orientals. I’ve got a few old tins of Dunhill EMP. I want to like it….

Give Sunday Picnic a try - it has a flow to it that the others don't. I don't enjoy Orientals right now because I'm on a post-surgery prescription and an olfactory issue that has limited my ability to taste.

Even though I am leaving my Sav 140, Steamworks and other Oriental tobaccos alone until the situation returns to normal, Sunday Picnic works for me right now. A good Balkan with an Oriental Component, like Arango Supreme might also be to your taste.

Then again, you've way more experience than I, and have probably already done this. You're one of the guys who I take note of in what he smokes and try them if I can - just trying out my advisory wings here!

Jim - An admirable gesture from Harry & as you so regularly delight us with details of your various meals, I have to believe you'd partake of a wonderful squirrel dinner with GUSTO (!!!). NOTE: I've eaten many squirrels & they're great. The mid-Appalachian area ... VA, WV, NC ... treasures squirrel. There are many YouTube videos on Appalachian cooking. But maybe you shouldn't rely on the cats to harvest them for you, should you become a connoisseur. ;) With a Small Game License & a .22 rifle, you could stock your freezer.

We only have one common squirrel up in Northern BC - the very small Douglass Squirrel, which has almost no meat and tastes, in what little meat it has (it's about the size of a small chipmunk) like its been marinated in turpentine. Tried one only once. Quothe the Raven, "Nevermore!"

Other species are the Nocturnal Flying Squirrel, and the Columbian Ground Squirrel (which are like little gophers) and they taste terrible. Tried one after a "gopher shoot". Never again, and never went on another gopher shoot. I eat what I shoot. Period.

Interestingly enough, the word "gophir" in the language of the Sikani-Carrier, the dominant natives up here, means "tasting of the earth", and they never ate them unless starving.

Half way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed all the cats without incident. Planning out my day. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

@gord , thanks for the recommendation. I have not tried Sunday Picnic. As for wings, we like our wings sauced while still on the grill. I recommend these.

Cool Looking pipe, and excellent and imaginitive presentation. A touch of a critique here - would love to see the entire pipe. It's tough sometimes unless you're using a single-lens reflex. Parallax has ruined more than one of my photos.

Pipe is very unique and has fantastic grain. Shape and stem match the bowl perfectly. Well deserving of the Kewpie Doll - best I've seen so far today!! :) 👍👍
I’d love to present multiple shots of every pipe I post, to show it off 360°. Feels like that can get presumptuous though.

On to some Tudor Flake in a Radice Clear billiard.

Unfortunately, use of a softee bit by a prior caretaker discolored the bite zone.
View attachment 414066

I can literally destroy pipestems in very short order - use a softee or the "gizmo" on my longstems because I have incisors and eye teeth on both sides of my jaw honed into buzzsaws from 65 years of biting monofilament fly leaders with them. So acute that I can compete dentally with clippers, so don't bother with them lol.

That's why I don't clench pipes except for those cheap MM Minicobs I use in the mornings or in my travel kits. Brutal.

That's a very nice pipe, by the way. Love it! :) 👍👍
