Today's smoke was Peterson DeLuxe Navy Rolls in a Stefano Rhodesian, paired with a vodka tonic and some misanthropic banter (even more so than usual) with wifey. This bowl is dedicated to my parents, who were married at the Sportsmen's Lodge in LA 49 years ago today. Thumbing through the photo album, thoroughly amazed at the plaid pants that must've been constructed of curtains absconded from the nearest Holiday Inn. 9/10

Bird report: California scrub-jay, House finch, California towhee, California quail, American crow, Mountain chickadee, Oak titmouse, Bushtit, Northern flicker, Western bluebird, and Mourning dove.

Glad to have a day to decompress here, and know that fall is just around the corner. Shabbat shalom!

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am near the last quarter of this bowl of year 2014 Sam Gawith Best Brown Flake in a straight smooth brown 1933-1945 Comoy’s patent Grand Slam 159 *4 apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching the D-Backs-Dodgers game. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave came in to eat. Tomato ate a regular portion, wanted some head and ear rubbing, and then wanted out. Daisy went straight for a catnip sock, and I had coax her to eat what little that she did. She's snoozin' on the floor with her head on the sock after playing. Harry the Hairy is outside.

I got a bag, opened the door, and saw that he was eating a squirrel. I wrapped it in a bag and trashed it. I guess Harry wanted to share the squirrel with me.
Jim - An admirable gesture from Harry & as you so regularly delight us with details of your various meals, I have to believe you'd partake of a wonderful squirrel dinner with GUSTO (!!!). NOTE: I've eaten many squirrels & they're great. The mid-Appalachian area ... VA, WV, NC ... treasures squirrel. There are many YouTube videos on Appalachian cooking. But maybe you shouldn't rely on the cats to harvest them for you, should you become a connoisseur. ;) With a Small Game License & a .22 rifle, you could stock your freezer.
