I've been out of pocket for a day or two, first just the heat and humidity, but biggest issue ended up being last night's really short, but really powerful, storm. Took down trees and fences everywhere, well for us just a big section of tree that blocked the garage. BUT, fortunately spared my 2002 hatchback (I swear it has 9 lives!).
🌬️🍃🌪️

Anyway, finally a chance to sit down with something really easy: Lane Macanudo in the Country Gentleman.
Along with iced black tea and evap. milk. Whew.

Glad to hear you got lucky on that one, my friend. Definitely coulda been worse. I had a couple pines come down on the N Florida property in a couple of the storms last year. I was lucky, too, since they fell right where the garage was going to be.

Well, got my mom's project set up. She's happy with my couple days tinkering in the shop.

She's going to plant vines on it, to decorate the septic system area. Maybe an old bicycle or something behind it. She also started working on her "fairy house" project. When i was out here a couple years ago doing the clearing before i started the build on her house, she requested i leave a stump from one of the trees in what was going to be her future front yard. So i did and this is what's become of it:

Fairy House.jpg

Firing up a bowl of Steamworks in a Cinar on the deck with a little leftover Bordeaux from dinner while helping her get some documents moved to her computer for concealed weapons permit. Then getting a cigar going for the drive home. Early bed, early rise. Her airplane leaves at like 7am, so that'll be a fun morning.

Relaxing after a wonderful 1.75 pounds of pork chop with six stuffed with rice and hamburger squash, falafel, and pita bread dinner. Dessert was a little rocky road ice cream and some strawberry ice cream, and big peach. I've passed the first half of this bowl of KBV Fuzzy's Dock Master in a 2003 URAL full bend big bowl egg shaped Lattice meer with a black acrylic saddle stem. Writing beta notes on this blend. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Molly Danger must like this new lap top because she keeps nudging against it. And begging for attention, too. Sleepy Suzy is snoozin' on the couch. Daisy the Feral Princess is on m'lady's lap.

Thank you! Yes, it absolutely could have been a lot worse. There was basically no damage, well except to the tree, and a minor inconvenience for about a day. So, blessings all around.

Thanks for sharing your handiwork on the pergola -- beautifully done, and I like your mom's style with the chair colors, and that incredible fairy stump! Really quite artistic. 🧚‍♀️🏰

Holy moly! I knew y’all were getting some bad stuff up there but this takes the cake, glad that tree was just a chore and not the impetus for some good, old-fashioned car shopping. We lost a tree too but there was nobody around to hear it, and you know what they say…

Oh man, what would I do if something happened to that car, had it since it was a babe. It was actually my first car, bought it new in 2001. Hyundai Accent for the win!!! 🤩

Now smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Sleepy Suzy's been giving me nose nuzzles with lots of purring going on while I was trying to pack this pipe and post this smoke, the silly girl. Now, she's by my side waiting for more attention.

After all the lead-up to this pergola and planter set I’m very happy that you’ve posted pictures! Really great job, and judging by the qualities of that stump I’d say your project is about to be thoroughly enriched by way of your mom’s own brand of tinkering. Also, that is a beautiful pipe.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2018 D&R Raccoon’s Accent in a pre-WWII straight smooth brown The Lumberman Special (Comoy’s) with a tapered black vulcanite saddle stem. Daisy the Feral Princess has been snoozin' near my feet for a while. Tomato the Brave just came in to eat. Sleepy Suzy bathed my left arm. At least I won't have to wash it now. :)
