Evening one and all-
I haven’t posted in over a week. Had a smoke or two in that time. But the high heat combined with daily chores, an irrigation project and the beginning of storing/putting up the garden harvest(s), left me with little or no desire to sit outside in the heat.
A wonderfully “cool” after dinner smoke is in order Tonight.
The Dublin Meer packed with Country Squire, Meriwether and a glass of Buffalo Trace Bourbon.?

After dinner, Country Squire Old Toby in the MM Mark Twin Cob --- I never really liked cobs in my youth but now fully appreciate the convenience, perfect smoke and taste. Live and learn; better late than never ! In fact I'm thinking of getting a new acrylic stem like you guys have but can't on best one.

@Ag®o ; @LotusEater : Happy Birthday ! many, many more and a wonderful year to you both !!

Drying the last of my sample of Dunbar on a paper towel, to go in my Stefano bent Rhodesian. Enjoying a fizzy strawberry flavored drink from Trader Joe's. Bird report: California scrub-jay, California quail, California towhee, House finch, Brewer's blackbird, Mourning dove, Ring-necked dove, Red-tailed hawk, Common raven, Northern flicker, White-breasted nuthatch, Oak titmouse, Mountain chickadee, Steller's jay, Hairy woodpecker, Western kingbird, and Bullock's oriole. A nice full array, just the way I like it. Listening to ambient music, and feeling glad to be back at home again after several days on the road. ?

Derringer(what else?) in a, new to me, late 1950s smooth Kaywoodie Standard drinkless apple. Is it advisable to turn off the stem when these pipes are hot? I get a slight gurgle with this pipe occasionally and this contraption doesn’t allow a pipe cleaner to reach all the way in. The draw on this pipe is more restricted than I’m used to. I think I’ve read somewhere that too much aggression turning the stem can cause the stem to unclock from top dead center.
Any thoughts are appreciated as I quite like this pipe!
